We are so proud of LAFD Recruit Class 23-5, who celebrated their graduation this week at the iconic Orpheum Theatre. This is the next generation of first responders who will eventually lead our Los Angeles Fire Department. Congratulations to each of the grads, and thank you for your service. Congrats To LAPD Above And Beyond Award Recipients!
It was a pleasure and privilege to honor some of Los Angeles' bravest officers who received the Medal of Valor, Purple Heart, and Preservation of Life Awards at this year’s Above and Beyond Awards. Our police officers put their lives at risk every day, but some go above and beyond in the call of duty. We are proud and grateful for their courage and sacrifices.
We are so excited to share that, after years of advocacy by local residents, we are finally getting a dog park in the Pacific Palisades! We just secured the grant funding we need to move the project forward, so we will be working with Rec & Parks to schedule community meetings to go over the details. Stay tuned for more updates as we get things moving!

Join us and the Venice Surfing Association on Saturday, September 21, at 8:30 AM for our annual coastal cleanup day! This year, we will be at Centinela Bridge at Ballona Creek, where we will address the garbage and other plastic pollution befouling the waterways that lead directly to the ocean. Please consider carpooling or biking to help the environment!

Clear The Shelters Adoption Event
LA Animal Services is once again participating in Clear The Shelters, NBCUniversal Local’s annual nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign, marking its 10th consecutive year. To promote pet adoptions, LA Animal Services will be waiving adoption fees for dogs and cats at all six of its centers on Saturday, September 7, Sunday, September 8, from 11 AM to 5 PM, and Tuesday, September 10, from 8 AM to 5 PM.
