Work to carry out maintenance on the underside of the Raglan wharf is progressing well with contractors now almost halfway through the necessary repairs.
Over the past month, the team have been busy removing small areas of eroded concrete around the western side of the wharf, carrying out repairs to the steel underneath and then placing new concrete over top.
They will now move to the eastern side of the wharf near to the boat ramp where they will carry out the remaining repairs which will help to ensure the wharf stays in great condition for many years to come.

Dolphin Pier closed
The Dolphin Pier is temporarily closed from 8am-5pm on weekdays while we carry out hydro-demolition and maintenance repairs underneath to improve the resilience of the structure.
Hydro-demolition is the process of using specialist highly pressurised equipment to remove small areas of concrete which have degraded over time.
To keep visitors to the wharf safe, we need to close the area above where this is taking place while this equipment is in use.
We expect to reopen the pier to the community in early November.

Delivery of a 12-tonne barge to site
Early last month, we temporarily closed the boat ramp for the short period of time while we delivered a 12-tonne barge into the water.
It now serves as a working platform for the under wharf structural repairs, housing all the equipment needed to carry out this work such as high-pressured pumps for hyrdo-demolition and concrete application gear.

Pontoon, eastern walkway and kayak ramp
We are continuing to source volcanic basalt paddock boulders from the Te Uku Wind Farm which will be used to create a sea wall at the eastern side of the wharf.
We expect to have all the rock we need by the middle of this month, in time for the start of construction on the new pontoon, walkway and kayak ramp in November 2022.
