Camping out in Colossians
Link to online content 8 January 2023

Greetings!

We hope you’re enjoying some refreshing time in God’s presence over the summer.
We’re “camping out in Colossians” for the month!

Just a reminder that we will focus on small group gatherings on the 8th January, so there will be no regular service in the auditorium. If you don’t have a small group to go to, you are welcome to join others in the church café at 10am.

We encourage you to gather in other settings, with life group, family, or the people you are on holiday with. The content for the 8th January will be more of an interactive discussion, rather than a full sermon. It will be a time to encourage and pray for each other in your journey with God this year.

In preparation for those conversations, here is a reminder of the prayer in Colossians 1.  Which part stands out to you, that you are asking God to fill you with in 2023?

Colossians 1:9-14
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with...
– the knowledge of his will through
– all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,
10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and
– please him in every way:
– bearing fruit in every good work,
– growing in the knowledge of God,
11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so – that you may have great endurance and patience,
12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has
– qualified you
– to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.
13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and
– brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,
14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Here’s a link to a digital copy of “Camping out in Colossians” booklet which we will refer to throughout January.

Next week (15th January) we will back together for our regular 10am service.
We will continue to live stream the services from that time.

May you know God’s refreshing presence this week.

Grace and peace,
Tim

Prayer Focus
Ian Moorhouse is leading our prayer focus this year 2023. Starting this Sunday, January 8th 2023 (and every Sunday) at 5pm and will be held in the Church's prayer room. This will be about an hour’s duration or as the Spirit moves. Whilst the focus will be one of seeking God’s direction and enabling for us as a fellowship, there will be ample opportunity for people to just come and be, experiencing the presence of Christ for themselves and being forever changed by it. Please join us.
And as Jesus taught them, he said, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’”
Mark 11:17
Time with Christ in prayer brings-
A new Perspective Who are you to God, and Who is God to you - the creator of the universe.
A new Awareness of God’s presence in your being.
A new Knowledge of God’s acceptance and love for you as an individual.
A new Peace knowing that God is fully in control of all things both physical and spiritual.
A new Passion for others as God reveals his heart to you for those who don’t know him as well as for those who are in need.
A new Purpose fuelled by the strength and compassion of God as He says ‘Go in my name to the lost, to the needy, to the victims of injustice.

Our deepest condolences from FBC
Dale Middlemiss, was formerly a member of Franklin Baptist Church before moving out of Pukekohe. On December 30th, she passed away following an existing condition that was impacted by covid. The funeral will be held at Uplift Church,  Franklin Road, at 1pm on Monday 9 January.
This message was requested to be shared by her daughter Wendy Dixon (nee Middlemiss) with the FBC church as there may still be members of the congregation who knew her mother.
