This is the fifth of our FBC Leadership Team (LT) updates.
 
Search Committee
We would like to thank all who gave excellent nominations of people to be considered as members of the Search Committee, and also to those people who made themselves available for selection.  We had a large number of names – 18 in all!

We were particularly concerned that the committee should be reflective of the makeup of our congregation, and have a good balance of male and female.  We first determined some core groups which were represented in our whānau.  Those were Māori/Cultural Diversity, Youth, Singles, Seniors, Young Families, those with good knowledge of FBC’s history, Empty Nesters, Grandparents, and Overseas Missions Focus.

This was a good guide for us in making the selection, and after much prayer we are blessed to announce a committee which between them all, has all of these core groups represented. All seven accepted nomination this past week.
The Leadership Team have much pleasure in appointing the following to the Search Committee, in alphabetical order –

Stuart Smith
Lisa Snook
Josh Temu
Phil Walker

Members of the Leadership Team will also support the group to ensure good linkage/information flows back to the Leadership Team, and ultimately to the wider church.
 
Next Steps
As noted in our last update, the Baptist Union advises that the next step, before the Search Committee can begin its important work, is for the FBC Leadership Team to develop a “brief”.  This brief will define the tasks and parameters of the committee.  Once finalised and shared with the committee, we will make this information available to all.
