Gateway To Venice Beach Restored

Since taking office, my team has actively collaborated with City departments and local neighbors and stakeholders to secure resources for a parkway beautification project on Venice Boulevard between Dell and Pacific Avenues, which serves as a gateway to Venice Beach for all of Los Angeles.

In the lead up to this work, Council District 11 collaborated with SHARE!, LAHSA, St. Joseph Center, and the CIRCLE team to provide intensive outreach and extend housing offers to people living in encampments at the location. We're thrilled to report that we successfully housed 40 people!

In addition to our City and nonprofit partners, I want to personally thank the neighbors, community volunteers, and stakeholders who worked closely with our office to make this project successful.

We also oversaw a major CARE+ cleanup at the beach in Playa del Rey this week. Thank you to our partners at LASAN and Recreation & Parks for their help and support in keeping our local beaches clean and accessible for the entire community!
Since January, my team and I have placed nearly 200 people living on the streets of the 11th District into interim and permanent housing. We will not rest until everyone has been offered the opportunity to come indoors!

Your Safety Is Our Priority

As National Safety Month begins, we are focused on emergency preparedness, especially on the Westside, where we are exposed to significant fire, tsunami, and flood risks. Preparedness isn’t just advisable—it's necessary!

The best time to plan for an emergency is before it happens.

Pet Preparedness Month
June is also National Pet Preparedness Month. Pets are family members, so having an emergency plan for them is crucial, too! Steps to ensure your pet is emergency-ready include having an animal evacuation plan, making sure your pet is microchipped, and preparing a pet emergency kit.
Public Safety Fair

Join us today, June 10, from 11am - 2pm at the public safety fair at Simon Meadow in Pacific Palisades. We will have Los Angeles Fire Department Station 69, the Brush Clearance Unit, CERT, the LAPD Emergency Management Department, and MySafe:LA present to engage with residents and answer questions about fire safety and emergency preparedness.

As your councilwoman, your safety is my top priority!

Celebrating Trade, Travel, and Tourism

This week at the City Council, I launched Tourism Day. This critical pillar of our economy contributes more than a half-million jobs and generates hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for the city and local businesses.

CD11 is home to some of our city’s most important tourism resources. From LAX, the entry point for tens of millions visitors, to our gorgeous coast and the Santa Monica Mountains, we have some of the best recreational and environmental assets in Los Angeles. We are also lucky to be home to major cultural and academic institutions, such as the Getty Center, the Skirball Cultural Center, and Loyola Marymount University.

As your councilwoman and Chair of our Trade, Travel, and Tourism Committee, maintaining Los Angeles as a major destination for events, travel, and tourism from all over the world remains one of my top priorities. You can keep up with what the City is doing by going to the CD11 website and clicking on the ‘Tourism’ tab.

Park’s Picks
In this week's Park Pick, we spotlight Jemma di Mare, a delightful Italian-American seafood restaurant nestled along a lively stretch of San Vicente Boulevard in Brentwood. Opened just over a month ago, Jemma di Mare has swiftly garnered a fan base of seafood lovers, impressing patrons with their superb menu. The restaurant also participates in Feeding America and No Kid Hungry. For each meal purchased at Jemma di Mare or one of their partner restaurants (Ospi or Jame), Memento Mori Hospitality donates a meal to someone in need.
Adopt-A-Pet

Meet our pet of the week! Two-year-old Winston loves to play fetch, knows his commands, takes treats gently, and enjoys romping around the backyard! You can meet Winston at our North Central Center.
