Tomorrow morning, the Devonshire PALS Youth Center is hosting a doubleheader inviting members of the community to a Health & Wellness Resource Fair and a volunteering effort by the Rotary Club of Granada Hills.

The Health & Wellness Resource Fair begins at 10am and will feature various organizations focused on helping attendees reach their physical and wellness goals. The volunteering effort will begin at 8am and participants will help the Rotary Club accomplish their mission of packaging 3,000 meal kits for San Fernando Valley families.

As we gear up for the summer season, the Los Angeles Fire Department and Channel 35 have teamed up to bring you a friendly public service announcement regarding water safety and drowning prevention. 

National Pet Preparedness Month

In the event of any emergency, it is important to have an emergency preparedness plan for all members of your family and that includes your pets. The City of Los Angeles' Emergency Management Department has put together a guide to help residents create a plan that will make it easier to keep pets safe and healthy in any difficult situation. Adopt-A-Cat Month with LA Animal Services 

June is Adopt-A-Cat Month and to celebrate and encourage adoptions of our feline friends, adoption fees for all cats and kittens are waived starting June 3 through June 11, thanks to a generous grant from the ASPCA. Reduced adoption fees will be offered for dogs and puppies on June 3 and 4, and June 10 and 11. You can view the wonderful dogs, cats, rabbits, and pocket pets who are ready to meet you and who are available for adoption in the Centers by going to laanimalservices.com/adopt.

BLAZE A TRAIL WITH THE LAFD

Join the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Foundation for the first annual Blaze A Trail event (walk through the LA Zoo) on Saturday morning, 7 am – 11 am, June 10, 2023! The Foundation is issuing a challenge in which the station/unit with the largest team in support and attendance will win $4,000 for its Adopt-A-Fire-Station (AAFS) account. Council District 12 has selected Fire Station 70 as the station to rally behind and we call on residents in the district to turn out in support of the station and the department. Follow this link in support of Fire Station 70 and help us win. 

Neighborhood Council Budget Advocates Day

The Neighborhood Council Budget Advocates are holding their annual Budget Day on Saturday, June 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The plenary session will include keynote addresses from Mayor Bass and Council President Krekorian. Following the plenary session, there will be regional breakout sessions to discuss City services in your neighborhood. Register now via Eventbrite at tiny.cc/budgetday23.

Northridge Recreation Center 2023 Programs
The Northridge Recreation Center has released a list of its programs starting in the summer. As always there are numerous activities to keep kids engaged and to expose them to new sports and skills.   • LASAN Provides Additional One-Time Brush Collection
    Did you know? In addition to your regular green bin collection, LA Sanitation offers a once-a-year service to collect as many 30-pound bags of brush/yard waste/branches (cut up to 4ft), especially useful around brush clearance time! To arrange for pick up, call 1-800-773-2489 a day before your regular collection day and provide the quantity of bags.
     
  • LAHD Webinars for Tenants and Landlords
    If you are interested in learning about Los Angeles' current rules regarding tenant protections, follow this link to register for one of LAHD's upcoming sessions.
     
  • LASAN's Toiletries Drive
    Join Los Angeles Sanitation and Environment and donate unopened toiletries that will be donated to the St. Francis Center and LA Sanitation's Livability Services Division. Click here to see items needed and drop-off locations.
     
  • LASAN's OrganicsLA
    Los Angeles Sanitation and Environment customers should use their green bins to dispose of all food scraps and food-soiled paper, along with their existing yard waste. To help residents start collecting food scraps, the City is providing 2-gal kitchen pails. Residents can start making appointments to pick up their pails through the LASAN's scheduling system.
     
  • Free Bulky Item Drop-Off
    LA Sanitation & Environment is accepting bulky items at five locations around the City monthly. Click here to see the dates, times, and details.
