Whānau News: 18 August 2023

Kia Ora Church.
I have noticed recently that the light is breaking through the window in the bedroom earlier and earlier. It is a sign that winter is coming to an end and that the seasons are about to change. I love the Spring season as it reminds me of the New Life that has been gifted to us by God through a relationship with Jesus.
Winter is always a time for preparation, and as the sun begins to shine a little more so there is that expectancy that God is doing something fresh and new not just in creation but also in our lives. What has God been preparing you for? What are you expecting God for? What are you believing for in the Spring season of your life? Why don't you share that with God. The Winter season may have been difficult for you, but you can dream for something better in this next season of life. Give it all to God and see what he does as you trust Him for a new Springtime.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-7 "For everything there is a season..."
- Steve

A new purpose in Life / Steve Clark
Philippians 1:12-30
When a person becomes a Christian they discover that their lives are never the same again. For all of us we discover new passions, new directions and a new purpose. This week we will discover just what that purpose is and in the weeks to come see how we can live out the life God calls us to.

Join us at 10AM in-person or online. There has been a rise in Covid and flu in the community again.  We would love to have you join us online for the service if you are not able or unwell. Please contact us if you need support staff@fbc.nz
For the Kids...
Wonder Kids (Preschool Programme): We are focusing on day five of creation.  God made the sea animals and birds. (Genesis 1:20-23)
Discovery Kids (Primary Programme): We are exploring the story of Joseph and the plan to save Egypt, focusing on the fact that we can use what God gives us to solve problems (Genesis 40-41)
FBI (Intermediate Programme):
This week in FBI we are doing our final week series looking at breaking free from comparison. This week we are looking at how we can choose to see ourselves how God sees us.

We will also be starting to introduce tithes and offerings as a form of worship in our programmes from this week.  These Tithes and Offerings will go to buy books for the literacy programme that Kevin and Gillian are working with in Cambodia.  Parents, I have sent an email with more information to you.
If you have any questions, please email carol@fbc.nz
Prayer at 5pm
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14. The presence of God’s Spirit fuelled by prayer brings God’s wisdom, strength and compassion into our lives and victory over the many issues that have held us back in the past. We would love you to join us, humble ourselves and pray -Sundays 5pm in the Church Auditorium.

Do you want to be able to welcome new people God sends your way?
Do you want to learn more about who is in our church community?
Do you want to meet new people?
I’d been going to FBC for around seven years and when we returned after Covid lockdowns I discovered there were a lot of people in our church community I didn’t know by name let alone who they were!
Convicted? Yes, I was. Getting to know who the people are in our church community went to the top of my focus list, and I have only just touched the surface.
One way to do this was to serve on the Barista Team on a Sunday morning.  What better way to meet people and be able to serve as part of the body!  First I started with taking orders.  I wasn’t at first interested in making the coffee, only drinking it.  But as I got to know people and watch how the coffee was made, I took the plunge and started to learn how to make it.  I am still learning, and currently I stay away from milk because I am not completely confident, but by standing next to other team members who do it, I am learning and hope to take it on by Christmas!  Because we are a small team and demand is growing, I need to step out in faith and take the plunge……keep an eye out for me on milk, I look forward to meeting a new face and learning a new name.
If I can do it, you most differently can do it! We need your help and would love to have you on the team.  If you are interested in meeting new people, getting to know people more, taking on a challenge, age is only a number, WE WANT YOU!
It’s never too late to learn something new, even if it’s just taking orders.
Register your interest by clicking on the button below and Theresa will get in touch with you; or leave your name and number at the info desk.
