| Dear Friends and Neighbors:
Mark your calendars! We’re hosting CD1’s first-ever Música y Poemas Festival on Saturday, October 21st at Sycamore Grove Park. Join us for a day of food, music, performances, and more.
CD1 is holding a call for submissions for performers and artists of all kinds who want to showcase their talent at Música y Poemas. This call is open to both amateur and professional artists and we highly encourage folks from CD1 to apply. For more information and to apply, please fill out our Call for Submissions form.
I am also excited to share that CD1 now has our very own USC Street Medicine Team on the ground five days a week providing heath and social services to unhoused CD1 residents. Check out our Housing and Homelessness update below to learn more about the team and the work they’re doing to support the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of our unhoused neighbors.
In solidarity and gratitude,
Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez | | |

| We're hosting another round of food distributions in #CD1 this month! Stop by any of the locations to grab free and fresh food. | | We’re continuing to work with our City departments to bring critical infrastructure improvements to our District. Over the last month, an alleyway resurfacing was completed on Brooks Ave in Historic Solano Canyon, a concrete panel repair was completed on Avenue 51 from Lincoln Ave to York Blvd, and overgrown vegetation was cleared on Primavera Ave. |

We celebrated people doing the ground work around harm reduction on our streets, and honored those who are no longer with us. Thank you to all of the organizers who made this beautiful event happen!
|
| Our Field Team is doing walk-throughs and drive-throughs all across the District to document areas in need of repair or City services. If you see a broken streetlight, unfilled pothole, illegal dumping, or other issue that needs to be addressed in your neighborhood, fill out a 311 request today and let our team know so we can follow up.

| People experiencing unsheltered homelessness often do not have access to consistent medical care. USC Street Medicine provides a model for what care and compassion looks like for our unhoused community here in Los Angeles by eliminating barriers to entry for high-quality healthcare from medical professionals. Last week, we shadowed our new CD1 Street Medicine Team and heard directly from them about the type of services they provide to unhoused residents in the District. Check out a video overview of their work here.
During the last budget cycle, we worked to secure the funding to bring a street medicine team to CD1 to address the needs of our residents and break down barriers to entry for healthcare and housing. Our new Street Medicine team is now on the ground five days a week providing unhoused residents with critical services, including treating acute and chronic health conditions, STD diagnosis and treatment, substance use disorder treatment, mental and behavior health care, medication management, lab work, and more. CD1 is the first district in Los Angeles to deploy a dedicated, full-time Street Medicine team and we hope to continue to expand this program to meet the needs of our city. |
