Juvenile Delinquent Dogs Book

Well, we missed our February publish date for our book, Juvenile Delinquent Dogs: The Complete Guide to Saving Your Sanity and Successfully Living with Your Adolescent Dog.  The editing has taken us much longer than we wanted.  But, we just received what looks like a final proof, so we hope it will be out sometime later in March.

Basic Training Online Course

We did some filming recently and have changed out a number of the videos for the online course. These videos were more than a few years old and we wanted to update them to reflect improvements we've made in how we teach our classes.  IF YOU ARE A PREVIOUS SUBSCRIBER TO THIS COURSE, WE WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH ANOTHER 30 DAYS ACCESS. We want everyone to take full advantage of what we offer and that includes improvements we make to our products.  Please contact us if you wish to take advantage of this.

Training tip – polite greetings from the dog’s perspective

Teaching our dogs to greet people politely can be a challenge. While some dogs are naturally more polite, many of our dogs have a hard time not jumping on people or doing other things we consider impolite. But what about the flip side? How many people greet dogs politely?

Reduce anxiety by teaching your dog to focus on you

Romeo and I attended our Rally drop-in class recently. The last time we were there, it was crowded which resulted in my post about looking out for your dog’s safety. This time, there were only four of us along with the instructor and her assistant and their five dogs. It was much more relaxed than the previous session. I felt calmer, and I could clearly see Romeo was calmer as well.

Nipping puppies and mouthy adolescents, part 3

This is part 3 in my series on addressing nippy and mouthy behavior in puppies, adolescent dogs, or even adult dogs who have not yet learned that teeth on human skin (and the clothing that houses human skin) is not acceptable. In the first installment, I discussed the importance of teaching our dogs alternative behaviors in order to get what they want while redirecting them to more appropriate outlets for the nipping behavior. In the second installment, I discussed in more detail some possible alternative behaviors to replace the nipping.
