This Women’s History Month, I am proud to spotlight just some of the incredible women of Council District 12 who help make our community the best it can be. Each of these women brings their unique talents and passions to serve others—whether it’s supporting individuals with special needs, advocating for local businesses, or making a positive impact in countless other ways.

Thank you to the strong, inspiring women of Council District 12 for everything you do to keep our community moving forward. Your dedication and contributions are paving the way for future generations of remarkable women who will continue to lead, inspire, and make a lasting impact on our community.

Keeping our community clean is a top priority of mine, and it’s through strong partnerships that we can truly make that vision a reality. That’s why I’m so grateful for the incredible work of organizations like the LA Conservation Corps. This past week, they released their community impact report, showcasing the immense contributions they made in 2024, not just in Council District 12, but throughout the entire City of Los Angeles. 3/22 - San Fernando Valley Cello Ensemble

3/29 - File Free and Claim Your Cash!

Free Tax Prep LA is here to help you get your money. If you made less than $67,000 in 2024, you can make an appointment to file your taxes and claim up to $10,000 available from the Federal and California Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC). Other credits, such as Child Tax Credits or the Foster Youth Tax Credit, may also be available to you. Follow this link to find out what you need to bring and how to make an appointment.

THROUGHOUT THE MONTH

Non-Perishable Food Drive

The 2025 Non-perishable food drive, sponsored by the City Facilities Recycling Program (CFRP) of LA Sanitation and Environment, is here! From March 10, 2025 through May 9, 2025, everyone is encouraged to donate non-expired, non-perishable food, including:

• Canned Goods (such as soup, chili, stew, and canned vegetables)
• Food in Jars (no glass jars, please)
• Packaged Foods
• Shelf-stable beverages (that don’t require refrigeration)

March Reduced Adoption Fee Weekends

LA Animal Services will offer reduced adoption fees for the weekends in March to help the pets in the six Centers find loving homes. To encourage animal lovers to adopt, LA Animal Services invites you to meet your new canine buddy or feline friend at one of its special adoption weekend events happening in March!

• March 22-23: National Puppy Day Adoption Weekend

• March 29-30: March Madness Adoption Weekend

Reduced adoption fees for dogs, $51 (not including a $20 license fee for LA City residents); puppies, $75; cats, $12.50; and kittens, $25. Click here to find available pets.
