Who's Already Going?

Right now we have three completed entries for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest.
While we're still waiting to hear about a potential name and costume change, Switzerland have selected Heilsarmee to sing 'You and Me' after a televised national final.
Belarus are going to try and send Alyona Lanskaya once more. After her disqualification by presidential decree last year, 'Rhythm of Love' is her second shot at the stage.
Finally for now, Belgium went through a National Final process on radio to choose the song 'Love Kills' for the internal selection of Roberto Bellarosa.

...And Who's Leaving?

In the run up to the EBU deadline for entries, a number of broadcasters have announced their intent to withdraw from Eurovision 2013. It's hard to say if these are genuine withdrawals or political posturing for better terms, but as it stands there will be 38 countries in Malmo.
Portugal and Slovakia were already known, but at the last minute both Turkey and Bosnia & Herzegovina stood up to say they would not be entering for 2013. We at ESC Insight don't think we've heard the last of this...

We're Just Waiting On A Song

Internal selections confirmed, awaiting the public vote for the music. A number of countries have went with an internal selection of the artist for their 2013 entry to the Eurovision Song Contest, leaving the public to decide on the song in a National Final style show. Belgium, as we've mentioned above, have completed that process.
Joining them in a similar process are Spain (who have selected an established folk/rock combo in El Sueno De Morfeo) and the Netherlands (with one of their bigger female singers, Anouk).
We're also watching for an announcement from Macedonia before the end of the year on their Artist, and if there will be a selection process or an internal song choice to go along with the performer.

Three More National Finals Before 2013

Six selections? That should be enough for a Juke Box Jury? Completing the rush to find the 2013 songs before 2012 ends, the National Finals for Lithuania and Ukraine are expected to finish this week, along with the three night delight of Albania's Festival i Kenges. We'll keep you up to date every Monday with the headlines on ESC Insight, and via the newsletter.

Malta's Hopefuls All Online

Some of these names are familiar. You can't help love someone who keeps trying again, and if that's the case the Maltese selection process is for you. The plucky musicians on the island all like to put their best foot forward in the hope of flying the flag for Malta at Eurovision, and this year is no exception. Looking to preview the songs? Ukraine win Junior Eurovision 2012

In the end it wasn't even close. With a total of 138 points (albeit with 12 points awarded just for turning up, and another 10 from the kids jury) Ukraine's Anastasiya Petryk scored three more points and placed one higher than her sister in 2008 to win the Contest. Nebo was moody, avant-garde, and like nothing else in the Contest.
Although we thought it looked a bit like the choreography from Loreen's Euphoria, and set to work with some editing tools. See what you think of the Little Loreen on YouTube.
