3) Bonshaw Ceilidh July 28th
The monthly Ceilidh Concert at the beautiful Bonshaw Hall will be Sunday, July 28th from 7-9 pm. Featuring special guests including singer/songwriter John MacAllar, lively young dancers Bethany and Dominik Pineau, and harpist Lana Quinn plus local musicians. There's a 50/50 draw, delicious biscuits for lunch, and open stage time. Admission is by donation with proceeds for July going to the PEI programs of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada. Everyone welcome. Wheelchair accessible. Seat cushion is recommended. The Bonshaw Hall overlooks the Bonshaw River and Bridge, on the Trans Canada at the corner of the Green Road.

4) Rock Barra Artist Retreat Concert Series Kicks Off
Songs and Legends of the Northside is an annual concert series held at Rock Barra Artist Retreat, in Rock Barra, PEI, featuring performers from the North East region of the Island. Concerts are on Sunday nights at 7:30 P.M. and tickets $10 adults, children by donation, are available at the door. The series is hosted by local songstress, Teresa Doyle. The concert venue, built as part of a filmset that starred Daniel Day Lewis, seats fifty or so people, providing an intimate concert experience. Kicking off the series is Eddy Quinn, a favourite at The Retreat and following him include Gordon Belsher and Richard Wood, Findlay Mullaly and the River Thieves, to name a few. Rock Barra Artist Retreat is a volunteer run Co-op managing a 20 acre shoreline land parcel providing concerts, and restorative workshops. 5) Open Call for Members
Canada Without Poverty, formerly named the National Anti-Poverty Organization, was founded in 1971 and is a federally incorporated, non-partisan, not-for-profit and charitable organization dedicated to the elimination of poverty in Canada. All directors on our 16-seat Board of Directors have the lived experience of poverty. Please see our website for more information and for our Terms of Reference for directors.
We are currently in search of five positive-minded, enthusiastic and otherwise qualified individuals to serve on our Board. The vacant seats are for New Brunswick, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Nunavut and one at-large seat (not geographically affiliated). Potential candidates should be passionate about reducing and eliminating poverty locally, provincially/territorially and nationally. Ideal candidates have a commitment to act on poverty from a human rights basis; previous Board experience, with an understanding of Board governance; excellent interpersonal skills; and a solid commitment to team work.

Tous les administrateurs de notre Conseil de seize (16 ) membres ont une expérience vécue de la pauvreté. Nous recherchons actuellement cinq personnes positives, enthousiastes et qualifiées pour notre Conseil. Une poste d’administrateurs hors cadre (sans référence géographique), les postes vacants sont affiliés au Nouveau-Brunswick, à l’Ontario, à l’Île du Price Édouard, et au Nunavut. Les candidates et candidats éventuels se consacrent avec passion à l’atténuation de la pauvreté aux niveaux local, provincial et national. Ils devront vouloir s’attaquer à la pauvreté selon l’optique des droits de la personne. Ils devront avoir acquis une expérience préalable du fonctionnement et de la gouvernance des conseils, posséder d’excellentes aptitudes interpersonnelles et être profondément déterminés à travailler en équipe.
6) Campaign School for Women - August 26
In August 2013, Liberals from all across Canada will be on the Island for a series of meetings. As part of that activity, the federal Liberal Women’s Caucus and the National Liberal Women’s Commission, in collaboration with the Charlottetown Liberal Women’s Club and the PEI Coalition for Women in Government, will be presenting a “Campaign School for Women” on Monday, 26 August.
The campaign school is open to women who have an interest in running for public office at any level and for any political party. The purpose of the campaign school is to encourage women to enter politics. It is also intended to provide women with practical information and tools on how to enter the race, fund the race, stay in the race, win the race and survive in the resultant fishbowl world of politics.
