The prominence of Italian design after WWII was spearheaded by small family-run companies created by passionate visionaries.  In particular Gio Ponti's Fontana Arte, Gino Sarfatti's Arteluce, Luigi Caccia Dominioni's Azucena, and Angelo Lelli's Arredoluce are among the important creative voices that launched the Italian lighting design revolution during the 20th century.
