The Musical Ride will also perform on October 2 at Lancers, as well as at the Atlantic Agricultural Fall Fair during Thanksgiving weekend.
July Schedule Changes
Come this July Lancers will implement a schedule change.
Based on previous years experience, we have had a 66% attendance rate in July, therefore this year for the month of July, all lessons will continue to take place in the evenings Monday to Friday, however, there will not be lessons on Saturdays. The Friday am class will be moved to 9:00 am.
What this means for junior riders in Rides 1-10 is that, each junior rider will be responsible to sign up for two lessons per week based on a revised schedule that combines rides. There will be three lessons per week to choose from to provide maximum flexibility. Class size will continue to be limited to 8 riders and availability will be on a first come first served basis.

link to see the new July schedule. Riders can sign up for the July schedule starting on June 1st. The Make Up Ride Schedule will not be impacted by the July ride schedule change.
We trust that the revision will allow for more flexibility in your summer schedules.
Fall Registration for Classes
The 2016-2017 riding schedule will be available in early June along with the proposed ride list. Junior and adult members will be able to sign up for the fall beginning on June 13.
A new 12 week Junior Beginner Course will start in the fall. Registration will open on June 6th. Enrollment will be limited to eight riders on a first come, first served basis. Children must be at least eight years old to enroll in the Junior Beginner Course.
There will also be a new Adult Beginner Course starting in the fall. Enrollment will be limited to six riders on a first come, first served basis. Note that our beginner courses fill up quickly, but we do maintain a waiting list.
Jump Into Spring Training Show
The "Jump Into Spring" Training Show will occur at Lancers on Sunday, May 15th.
Note: riders who have signed up for the show must pay in full before their class begins or they will not be able to compete. Each class is $30.00 per division or $12.00 per class. A $5.00 refundable deposit is required for a show number.
The show will start at 12 noon on Sunday. Riders signed up for the first class need to be at the barn by 11:00 am
. Classes will run in order and it is not possible to predict what time each class will begin or end. The show will wrap up between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm Sunday evening.
For those new to riding and competing, the days are long and it is impossible to predict when classes will begin and end.... relax and enjoy the show!
Summer Horse Show Schedule
The summer horse show schedule is posted with the costs to participate in each show in the lobby of the barn. Dates of shows are listed above in the important dates section of the newsletter. Contact the office at 902-423-6723 if you have questions or want to sign up for a show.
Salmon River Camp Registration Deadline Approaching
The Salmon River Camp registration process is underway. If you are interested in attending this week long camp -
which is open to Lancer members only - ages 10-18, please go to the Lancers office to fill out the application form and provide a deposit of $150.00
before May 20th. Please choose which week you wish to attend, either August 15-19th, or August 22-26th. Note that younger riders are able to attend if their parent attends as a chaperon.
Juniors will ride twice a day in the outdoor ring and also on trails as well as enjoy games and the camp experience. The facility in Salmon River (past Truro) is home to approximately 230 acres of cross country trails and will provide a great camp experience for both riders and Lancer horses, which will be transported there prior to the camp starting.
The fee for one week is $500.00 per person which is due on August 1st, plus the deposit of $150.00.

Summer camps almost full
Lancers summer camps are almost full.
There are several spots left for the week of July 25-29 and the first week of August. Please tell interested friends to visit Lancers office and fill out an application form as soon as possible to secure a spot! Camps are $300.00 for one week and require a $50.00 non-refundable deposit. Camps are open to children over the age of seven.
Welcome Tootsie and Ollie!
Lancers members are quickly falling in love with new horses, Tootsie and Ollie.
Tootsie is a 14 year old, 13.2 hh Newfoundland cross pony mare. She is helping to fill Pumba's very big shoes and is quickly becoming a barn favorite for her sweet disposition.
Ollie is a four year old 14.1 hh sport pony gelding. Ollie is the grandson of "Moonbeam," a Lancer favorite from the 90's and early 2000's.
In other horse news, Freddy has settled beautifully into his new home!
Doors Open Halifax almost here - need volunteers
Several Lancer members have indicated their interest in volunteering at the Doors Open Halifax event to be held on June 4 & 5th from 10 am - 4 pm, but we need more to help us spiff up the barn before the event. Please
email us or call the office if you have some time to spare to assist with this event. Note that there will be a musical ride practice between 3:00 and 4:00 pm both days of the Doors Open event.
Riders will have lessons on Saturday during the event but will be required to tack up/down in the stalls as there will be no horses on the cross-ties while people are touring the barn.
This event is hosted by The Doors Open Heritage Society, and will see buildings in Halifax and area open their doors to the public for free and invite the public to view interiors not usually accessible.
