The way that people remember where they were when 9/11 happened or Kennedy was shot - I remember exactly where I was the first time I heard this story. I was vacuuming my apartment in London. I remember thinking at first, "This Moth story isn't as good as some of the other Moth stories". Then, five minutes in, I switched off the vacuum but remained gripping its handle, standing stock-still in the middle of my living room until the story ended.
Please please PLEASE do yourself a favour and take the time to listen to this absolutely INCREDIBLE story, Lost At Sea by Deborah Scaling Kiley. I'm actually kind of envious that you get to listen to it for the first time. I wish I could erase it from my brain and have that experience again:
