Pilot Launch

Viva Village plans to open for services on October 1 of this year.

From October through December, we will conduct our Pilot Launch—testing our systems and processes (e.g., matching members requests with the right volunteers, making sure our database functions smoothly, etc.). We want to ensure a tried and true system is in place before the January 1, 2017 grand opening.
Test Run graphic
This August and September we will begin seeking people who wish to become Viva Village Members and Members Plus (service-receiving members) of Viva Village. At that time you can decide whether you would be willing to be part of the Pilot program to help test the systems.

Things to know about the Viva Village Pilot Launch:
  • Our goal for the pilot is to enroll 15 service-receiving memberships. It will be on a first come, first served basis. If more than 15 wish to be participate in the pilot, we will have a waiting list.
  • As a one-time incentive, members who choose to be part of the pilot will pay for one year, but enjoy the benefit of Village programs and services from when they enter the pilot program through December 2017.
  • There will not be a limit on the number of basic memberships during the pilot, as these members will not be utilizing the services of volunteers.

Founding Member

New nonprofit organizations often depend on Founding Members as a source of startup funds. Viva Village is no exception.
make the difference
However, being a Founding Member contributes so much more than money. It demonstrates the support and commitment of the community. It offers people a significant way to be part of something important that makes a difference in people’s lives.

Viva Village will offer the opportunity to become a Founding Member.

Things to know about the Viva Village Founding Member Program:
  • Founding Members can join between October 1 and December 31, 2016.
  • In addition to their membership fee, a Founding Member would pay $500 for a single member, or $750 for two members in a household. (see below*)
  • The Founding Member donation is to be paid in full at the time of joining.
  • We are developing ways to recognize and honor our Founding Members.
  • Anyone who wishes to contribute without being a member is a donor, not a founding member.

*The difference in the donation amounts reflects the difference in dues between a single member household and a two-member household—making the founding donations more equitable.

Volunteer Hours

Have you given time and effort to Viva Village this April?Clock
… then we need you to tell us how many hours you've given.

Why is this so important, you ask?
  • It demonstrates the tremendous community support for Viva Village. It plays a big role when applying for grants and asking local businesses for support. It's quite impressive to report that we had 27 volunteers who gave 901.5 hours, as happened this March!

We thank you for your work, and ask that you increase your impact by reporting your volunteer hours!

If you haven't reported your volunteers, click on the link below.

Viva Village Events

RECENT EVENTS:

Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens Field Trip
Fun with friends
On April 22, despite the damp weather, three car-loads of people ventured north to the Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens. Many of the lilacs had already bloomed due to this year's unseasonably early warm weather, but there were plenty yet to enjoy—plus colorful azaleas, wisteria, and other spring flowers in full bloom. The raindrops on the blossoms added to their beauty!
The Lilac Group
After exploring the historic house, the group stopped for a delicious lunch at a nearby Mexican restaurant.

Thanks Bonnie—and the Events team—for arranging such a fun outing!

Men' Coffee Break

coffee cupThe first ever Viva Village Men's Coffee Break was a big success! Six guys met at the Java Lounge on April 26 and took advantage of the opportunity to get know one another.

Although no world problems were solved, they look forward to meeting again on May 24!
