Premier League, here we come...
|
|
Race season is now just around the corner. After a victorious 2014, months of winter training and our first round of circuits, our hard work will finally be put to the test in Liverpool on the 3rd May.
|
|
Last year we sported a show stopper with our unique 'hand brake turn' (which although was fun....didn't really work!) :D – let's see what happens this time... :)
A massive thanks from the whole crew to Amit for your fantastic organisation of everything from Liverpool accommodation to restaurant arrangements, etc. A big thanks of course also to Captain Marfiak's carpooling arrangements and ongoing support on everything to do with the event. Both your efforts are greatly appreciated – thank you :)

It's been great to see record winter attendance over the last few months and have so many great new recruits join the Rage family lately. We've all been working hard on the water – with two boats at times, which has been great :) However, there have also been some windy weekends in the lead up to Liverpool, which has foiled our water training plans somewhat.
Fortunately we've been doing circuits with Nimbo to keep us fit, and land fitness manager Travers has also done an excellent job of running land-based sessions in place of water trainings when conditions have not permitted us to paddle. He's been logging the team's fitness test results and started devising additional plans to keep us all working hard through the season.
The next round of 10-week circuits is due to kick off on Tuesday 28th April. If anyone else is interested in building up their cardio, flexibility and strength and would like to join us, please let Andrew know.

Special edition training session
|
|
Vic and Jen were unable to make training on Sunday 19th April. Captain Marfiak, Travers and helms Justin and Reds did an awesome job of looking after two boats of Ragers. Joy also helped the newbies with land-based technique training. The newbies had a great time, and the coaches were glad there were no reports of collisions or drownings ;)
Thanks to these guys for helping run everything so smoothly in our absence, and thanks to the whole crew for supporting your captain. Rich Marfiak put a lot of time, effort and thought into planning everything from the boat configs to the drills. Just as well he had three whole minutes of coaching practise at the Rage Christmas special!! :D

Amit joined Rage last year following his corporate team paddling experience with PwC.
Also known as 'Ken Chow's apprentice', Amit has been working hard to improve his stamina and technique in the last few months and has come a long way since he first joined Rage. He's always willing to listen, learn and push himself to new limits. Congratulations Amit – keep it up :)

April Rage birthday social
|
|
Happy birthday to Nan, Vlad, Fernando and Kitty! The team celebrated with sunset drinks at the OXO Tower, followed by a Turkish dinner :)
|
|
Thanks to social coordinators Sharyl and Jess for organising the evening's festivities. According to the lovely duo, this is how the night unfolded :)
Part 1: Sunset drinks at the OXO Tower
- A civilised outing, and though it was super windy, the team enjoyed spectacular views of the Thames.
- Jess introduced the team to Expresso Martinis, which were a hit with Rage :)
- Some people had hot chocolate to warm up. Lots of selfies :)
- Jess brought her friend along, who Sharyl tried to recruit due to his muscular physique..."but it turns out he lives in Wolverhampton"....(recruitment fail....) :D
- A few couples showed up nicely colour coordinated – Redmunds and Patricia in Rage red, Jam and Will Ip in grey jackets (lol – kill Sharyl, not me!)
- Lots of buzz around local and international competition and the teams we're up against this year. Lots of positivity all 'round and the team definitely wants to put on a good show this season!
- Vic and Jen were at GB training, Kev got sliced and Lejon had jetlag.
Part 2: Turkish team dinner at Troia Bar and Restaurant
- Travers said he didn't want mezze but ended up eating it anyway.
- Marfiak arrived when the team was having dessert.
- Jam and Reds dared Andrew to mess with the till. He then asked the team to act natural but Rage failed and it was very obvious who the trouble makers were :)
- The team got a discount with Sharyl's NHS card...haha – Asians know how to score deals :D
- Ragers had fun and enjoyed the food, but decided not to drink late into the night as people wanted to get home and be focused for Sunday morning training. Dedication!
Thanks for the entertaining summary, ladies :D
Hope everyone had fun, and thanks again to Jess and Sharyl for organising everything. Stay tuned for news on Rage's May social plans!
