Summer is coming to an end, the weather is starting to cool down as we enter what is known as the most comfortable season in Beijing. But before we completely let go of those summer days let us look back on the busy month of September.
AustCham Beijing began the month with a submission to the Joint Standing Committee on the Treaties in the inquiry into the proposed China-Australia Free Trade Agreement. The submission aimed to highlight the border benefits of ChAFTA, including reducing tariff reductions, improved market access and streamlined approvals processes for subsidiaries of Australian businesses operating in China.
We also held a China Cyber Security Draft Law Briefing event on the 10th of September that was presented by Barbara Li, a partner at Norton Rose Fulbright. She delivered a comprehensive briefing on the ‘Draft Cyber Security Law’ that was issued on the 6th of July 2015 by the Cyberspace Administration of China.
On the 11th of September AustCham Beijing was involved in the Leading Women Gender Diversity and the Future for Women in Leadership event. The event provided a platform for women from all backgrounds to discuss challenges they face in the workforce and challenges they face in becoming leaders in their respective fields.
AustCham Beijing Deputy Chair, Global China Practice at KPMG, Vaughn Barber was interview on CCTV news this month. He was interviewed in regards to the World Economic Forum held in Dalian. Vaughn highlighted that China is truly open for business, with continued foreign investment welcomed and Chinese outbound investment set to continue growth at a fast pace.
Lastly, we would like to thank everyone who came along to The Great Aussie Barbie 2015. It was a brilliant day with wonderful weather, endless food and cracking sports entertainment! We look forward to seeing you at our Great Aussie Barbie next year!
