Universities successfully finding new funding streams

New research from AUDE reveals, UK universities continue to tackle sector funding challenges with innovative new routes, such as commercial deals, strengthening their position as hubs of local communities.

In 2016, capital expenditure reached a record high of £2.75bn per annum, as the sector continues to improve its estate and facilities in the knowledge that students and staff expect high quality and attractive facilities. To address this, the higher education sector has created additional income of £4.4 billion through non-traditional income sources, including a growing amount of commercial deals, over the past year to support these activities.

University College London earns first ever SKA HE gold

An award-winning fit out at UCL has achieved the first SKA for Higher Education (SKA HE) Gold rating. Supporting the relocation of over 300 UCL staff from Euston to St Martin’s Le Grand, the £1 million project transformed 24,000 sq ft of office accommodation into a collaborative, high-quality open plan workspace, which features breakout areas with tea points, a café-style kitchen, meeting rooms of varying sizes and touch-down areas for agile working.

At the recent Conference on University Purchasing (COUP), Angus Warren, APUC and Andy Davies, LUPC presented some hard-hitting information on the subject of Modern Slavery. Revealing that the number of victims is now estimated to be up to 21,000,000 
 

 

Legal services agreement launch event 8th November 2017

LUPC has produced a new agreement for Legal Services. The tender process was a collaborative exercise between all the English and Welsh higher education procurement consortia, with the participation and support of HE Shared Legal, the British Universities Finance Directors Group (BUFDG), Association of University Legal Practitioners (AULP), Universities HR (UHR), and Association of University Directors of Estates (AUDE).

New global movement to embed SDGs in universities launched 

A new global initiative to embed Sustainable Development Goals across post-16 education has been launched recently. ‘The SDG Accord’ is the university and college sectors collective response to UNEP’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It aims to inspire, celebrate and advance the critical role that education has in delivering the SDGs and highlight the value it brings to governments, business and wider society.
