"Make Your Best Move!"
A Free Speakers Series To Help Navigate The Next Chapter

According to US census data, over 40,000,000 people move in a given year. While that may sound like a mass migration, the fact is, out of a US population of 282,556,000 its only 14.19 percent annually. When it’s your move or your parent's the task can seem daunting.
As a service to our community The Kensington Group has lined up a panel of experts to help us all consider life’s inevitable progress. Mark your calendar for these free helpful and informative sessions.

February 21th  7:00 - 8:00 pm @ Dish and Dram, 10301 Kensington Parkway, Kensington
YOUR NEXT CHAPTER: How to realize your purpose and live with intention. Living intentionally is grounded in personal knowledge and (active) deliberate choices: Who are you? What drives your decisions and behavior? What is your purpose? Without intention, we live a disjointed life – floating and bouncing from one event to the next without ever considering our purpose or passion, arriving full of regrets over dreams unfulfilled.  Join us for an eye-opening, interactive session to learn how to live a life of purpose, with greater satisfaction – simply and enjoyably.
Facilitators, Cathy Bamji and Lea Johnson are certified Life Coaches and are passionate about working with individuals using a discovery process that honors their life purpose and core values. Cathy and Lea presented this workshop to the FDA Retirement Club garnering rave reviews.

March 9th 7:00 - 8:00pm Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church 9601 Cedar Lane, Bethesda
TOUGH QUESTIONS: How adult children can initiate potentially difficult conversations with aging parents around medical directives, driving, disbursement of valuables and possession, and where they will continue to live.
Facilitator, Linda Hill is a psychotherapist and LCSW with a specialty in geriatrics. She works with clients who are navigating the emotion-laden balancing act of helping their parents make decisions while still honoring their independence and autonomy.

March 11th 10:00am – 12:00pm Kensington Park Retirement Community 3601 Littledale Dr, Kensington
CYBER SECURITY AT HOME:   From fake telephone IRS fraud to digital Grandma Scams, cyber crimes happen, sometimes, without you even knowing you’re a victim until it’s too late. Older Americans are less likely to report a fraud for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is the concern that friends and relatives may think they no longer have the capacity to take care of their own financial affairs.  This forum will focus on understanding best practices for staying safe while on line and protecting personal and financial identity.
Facilitators:  Dr. Loyce Best Pailen and Mrs. Tamie Santiago are professors at University of Maryland University College and collectively have over 50 years of experience in information technology and cyber security. Both women have held leadership positions in the private sector, senior executive service in the  federal government and academia.
Dr. Pailen earned her doctoral degree at UMUC. She holds the cyber industry’s premiere Computer Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification. She is also the author of a series of children’s books related to educating our future workforce (and those people who read to them) about cyber security using fun, current, interactive and exciting topics and episodes.
Mrs. Santiago has a Masters and Bachelors in Computer Information Systems Science from University of Maryland University College and has recently retired from the federal government senior executive service with numerous meritorious service medals and Vice Presidential Commendations for her work in the area of cyber assurance and security

March 14th 7:00 – 8:00   Cedar Lane Church 9601 Cedar Lane Bethesda
SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO? — A look at all the aspects of aging in place with respect to home safety, finances, health management and social support.
Facilitator, Marilyn Emery, holds a SRES (Senior Real Estate Specialist) certification and is a Realtor with RLAH Real Estate  a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary.  Marilyn has had the pleasure of helping many neighbors, friends and clients navigate the process of deciding where they can best enjoy the later stages of life.

Thinking About Joining a CSA? Now is the time...

     What is a CSA?...

CSA Stands for Community Supported Agriculture. CSA allows city residents to have direct access to high quality, fresh produce grown locally by regional farmers. When you become a member of a CSA, you’re purchasing a “share” of vegetables from a regional farmer. Weekly or bi-weekly, from June until October or November, your farmer will deliver that share of produce to a convenient drop-off location in your neighborhood. While supermarkets stock all the produce you think you could ever want or need throughout the year, getting organic, locally grown, vegetables, fruits, meats and more is better for sustaining our environment and supports local farms, as well as our health.
