Happy International Women's History Month!

While our Fast and Female heroes like Kikkan Randall and her teammates are competing on skis for historic firsts at World Championships, we are taking a moment to appreciate the history of women in sports.

Some of our favourite historic highlights:
776 BC – Women couldn't compete in the 1st Olympics, but the Games of Hera featured female footraces
1900 – 12 women compete in lawn tennis and golf at the Olympics
1928 – Women finally get to compete in track and field and gymnastics at the Olympics
1966 – Roberta Gibb runs the Boston Marathon
1972 – U.S. Congress passes Title IX. This is THE BEST (google it if you don’t know)!
1974 – Tennis legend Billie Jean King founds the Women’s Sports Foundation
1976 – Sue Holloway 1st woman in the world to compete in Winter & Summer Olympics in the same year
1981 – Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women in Sport (CAAWS) is founded
2005 – Fast and Female holds its first event in Silverstar, BC with 50 girls
2016 – Canadian Kaillie Humphries drives an all-female team against the men, first in bobsled history

Girls (age 8–18) of all ability levels are invited to 3-hour events, called F&F Champ Chats presented by Fuelling Women Champions, where they will be inspired by Olympians & elite athletes to stay active in sports and have fun!
