Luke Buescher Uganda

Dear Friends and Family,
I pray this letter finds you abiding in the love and joy of our Savior.

“Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowler. The snare is broken and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” – Psalm 124:7

When I was 19 years old and seeking the Lord’s direction for my life, God spoke to me through this verse in a powerful way.  Because of Christ, my soul has been set free from the sting of death and sin, free from purposelessness, free from striving, and free from doubt.  The “snare” of the enemy has been broken, and oh what joy there is in knowing and accepting that!  God impressed upon on me that this was His heart for the nations, that they would be set free, and that my life was to be used for that very purpose.
As I have followed His leading, He has given me the most incredible opportunities! From 2013 to 2016, I served in a ministry in Chihuahua, Mexico, seeking to further the kingdom of God within the nation of the Tarahumara Indians. I was so blessed by my time there and while it wasn’t without its difficulties, it is true that God “makes all things work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose”. It is incredible to watch as God continues to grow the faith of those He gave me the opportunity to invest into.  It truly is His work!
Since moving back from Mexico In March last year, God has opened many new opportunities for me. Apart from being able to serve at my church, and be a part of a weekly homeless outreach, I have been able to travel to 6 countries on 4 continents, and experience what God is doing through His church all around the world!
I’m excited to share with you that God has been gracious to open the doors and lead me back onto the mission field full time! In March 2016, I went on a short term mission trip to the country of Uganda. Uganda is in a season of Harvest. After years of war and unrest, the Gospel has found a firm foundation in the hearts of the people who have seen that the way of pride and rebellion does not work. Unfortunately, the enemy likes to get his claws in wherever he can to try and disrupt the work of the Kingdom. In Uganda, this manifests itself in false doctrine and false teachers being accepted and spread throughout the growing church. In 2015 a missionary from my home church, Rocky Mountain Calvary, moved to Gulu, Uganda and began a School of Discipleship for local pastors. The school seeks to ground pastors in every book of the Bible, with the purpose of establishing the Ugandan church firmly in the word of God. By training these pastors in the word, the pillars of the church will be set upon truth, and not the false doctrines that are wreaking havoc on the faith of the new believers. It has been so successful that they have already opened a second School of Discipleship further outside of Gulu that is teaching pastors across multiple denominations. On top of this, the ministry has been given a fully functioning medical clinic, and is working to start an egg farm as a B.A.M (Business As a Mission) to help offset the costs of ministry.
I have been invited to move to Uganda and help in this growing ministry! In January, God graciously confirmed that it is His will for me to go. I am committing to a minimum of three years.  I will be leaving in July to begin a five-month missionary integration program called New Hope Uganda.

Prayer requests and financial details

Would you consider partnering with me in dedicated daily prayer and financial support
Prayer Requests:
  • That I would be filled with wisdom and boldness to declare the word of God in truth.
  • That I would abide in the Love of Christ, finding strength and victory in Him.
  • 2 Timothy 2:21-22
  • For the Ugandan Church, that it would be built up and established in the word of God, Love of Christ, and in the Fellowship of the Spirit.
  • Finally, for the team of Missionaries working in Uganda: for unity, wisdom, and direction.

Financial Details:
  • In order to live in Uganda, I am looking for supporters committed to a total of $2,500 a month. If you can commit to even $5-10 a month it would be a huge blessing.
  • Moving to Uganda, there will be several onetime costs which will run about $25,000. For example, buying a car (a 20-year-old car, in decent condition will run about $10,000), and paying rent (in Uganda it is customary to give six months to a year’s rent up front.)
  • Finally, the Missionary integration program will cost $4,000 which includes room and board for the five months I am in the program.
