DEX Deaf Awareness Day - 13th May 2017
Welcome to our third newsletter from Deaf Ex-mainstreamers Group (DEX).
We are organising a Deaf Awareness Day to celebrate the nationwide Deaf Awareness Week between 15th to 21st May 2017.  Our event will be on 13th May 2017 and this will be held at Hepworth Gallery at Wakefield, West Yorkshire.  The event opens from 11am to 4.30pm and entrance is free.  Held inside the auditorium, the gallery has splendid views over River Calder.

Our event to support Deaf Awareness Week may be first of its kind to be promoted in the Yorkshire region.
This event is organised jointly with Deaf Ex-Mainstreamers Group (DEX) and DEX Deaf Youth Council (DDYC).  There will be many deaf people exhibiting with information about deaf issues, deaf awareness, deaf culture, British Sign Language, story CDs in sign language, cards and crafts.  Also, there will be face painting for children, tombola and raffle.  Something for all the family.
Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield is quoted to be “One of the finest contemporary art museums in Europe” by The Independent.  This gallery is the largest purpose-build exhibition space outside London, occupying over 1,600 square metres of light-filled gallery spaces.

We invite you to come along for a fun and interesting day – a chance to look at Hepworth’s beautiful settings, sculptures and paintings, to view Deaf artists’ work and to learn more about DEX and DDYC’s many achievements.
