CECAN :: transforming the practice of policy evaluation in the Nexus to make it fit for a complex world
We may be operating in a virtual 'Agile' way here at CECAN, with team members spread out across the country, but we also ensure time is put aside to meet in person and strategically plan our activities. The entire CECAN team recently descended on the beautiful city of York for an intra-project meeting, with many new and existing faces around an exceptionally large table!
Thanks to all who attended.

Capacity Building - What Does it Mean?

Capacity building is a difficult concept to define. In theory it's a long term continuing process, describing a range of activities that individuals might participate in to expand knowledge and do their jobs better. What does this mean for CECAN?  The Centre's Mission suggests it will help ensure decision makers have the skills and expertise they need to develop and implement policy, using up to date tools and teachniques, and a clear understanding of what works in practice.

A core function of our work is to facilitate a community of practice across nexus domains, building capacity amongst the team and its varied stakeholders, encouraging knowledge exchange and training in innovative new methods and approaches for handling social science data and tackling real world policy problems.

We're achieving this through a series of seminars, webinars, EPPNs and practical training courses. We urge you to take a look through our upcoming activities, browse through this year's CECAN seminars and explore the resources that are ever growing on the CECAN website.
