Advocacy for Inclusion has been a hive of activity over the last month, and we are excited to share with you what we have been doing.

The Advocacy for Inclusion team is delighted to welcome back Karen Hedley to the team. Karen is back with us to coordinate our Self-advocacy groups and work on a helpful guide to navigate the NDIS and complaints.

We are also happy to announce that we are a grant recipient of the NDIS ILC in the ACT.
We will be developing a process to support individual people with disabilities to better understand and participate in their current justice process through self-advocacy skill building, and experiential learning techniques. So watch this space!

Our policy team have worked on important issues including a submission on Draft General Comment on UN Article 19: Living independently and being included in the community (Article 19) and responded to the Australian Human Rights Commission Response to Australian Human Rights Commission OPCAT in Australia

Advocacy for Inclusion has been funded by Department of Social Services (DSS) to help people in the ACT to appeal the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) decisions.

The NDIS Appeals also known as the External Merits Review is a process of changing a decision by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

You can ask for a review if you are unhappy with a decision by the NDIA.

Advocacy for Inclusion can support you to speak for yourself and be heard at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal  (AAT). We can also help you to get legal assistance if it is needed.

More information on the NDIS Appeals is on our website:

Learn and practice skills around rights and speaking up.

We do this by talking about things that are important to you, including current issues and events.

You can help make changes to our community by sharing your thoughts and opinions i.e. NDIS reviews
