An Exploration of Options for Healthy Living

The Summer of Love was a social phenomenon taking place in San Francisco in 1967, when as many as 100,000 young people displaying hippie fashions of dress and behavior, converged in the Haight-Ashbury district.

Why not celebrate this Summer by making it about loving yourself? You've emerged out of Spring, a period of self-renewal, and have shed the icy layers of the shadow months. Use these days to grow into Summer, a time of fruition and manifestation.

Solstice, which occurred June 21, was in ancient cultures the union between heaven and earth, and is the longest day and shortest night of the year. As the post-Solstice Summer days become ever shorter, it's a good time to reflect on projects or ideas that have been sizzling in the pot since spring. Check-in and ask yourself, "Have I made progress on my dreams? Have I been doing my part to help them come to fruition?"

In ancient times in Europe, Germanic, Slavic and Celtic pagans welcomed summer with bonfires, a tradition that is still enjoyed in Germany, Austria, Estonia and elsewhere. Some tribes practiced a ritual in which couples would jump through flames to predict how high that year’s crops would grow. How will you choose to grow this Summer?

You can celebrate Summer by creating a solar elixir. Pagan

traditions recommend creating a cordial with chamomile or elderflowers or a cocktail infused with the petals, and you can add a dash of cinnamon and ginger.
