City Employee Saves Swimmer in Distress
The City of Niagara Falls is comprised of talented, compassionate and courageous employees. On August 25, 2016, Joe Gagliardi was working with his crew cleaning up in the Chippawa boat dock area, when he heard calls from help coming from the shoreline. Without hesitation, Joe dove in with all of his work gear on and safely pulled a 22 year old St. Catharines resident to shore.
Geoff Holman, Director of Municipal Works, Mayor Jim Diodati, and Ken Todd, CAO, congratulated and commended Joe on his heroic efforts. His actions demonstrate the best qualities of a human being and a representative of the City of Niagara Falls.
Way to go Joe! We are all very proud of you. View the Niagara Falls Review article for additional information.

NRPS Police Headquarters Move Begins
After three years of construction, the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) will be moving to their new Headquarters on Tuesday, September 20, 2016. The new Headquarters is located at 5700 Valley Way, Niagara Falls.
This purpose built-police facility has resulted in significant operational and economic efficiencies for the NRPS. As a result of this transition, the Niagara Regional Police Service will permanently close and vacate five (5) separate facilities. Front-Line police services in the cities of St. Catharines and Thorold will continue to operate out of 68 Church Street, St. Catharines until such time as a new facility is constructed on Welland Avenue in St. Catharines beginning in 2017.
On September 20, 2016, at 6:00AM the Niagara Regional Police Service will become operational at the new facility in Niagara Falls. All front-line police services serving the City of Niagara Falls and the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake will be delivered from the Valley Way facility. Police operations and services currently being offered from the police station located at 4343 Morrison Street facility in Niagara Falls will then cease.
