Praise Reports
  • Praise for the regeneration program at Nakuru Main men's prison that started on Sept 6. We have 11 men in Oientation class (9 inmates and 2 leaders in training). We are 3 weeks into the program and have already seen the Holy Spirit expose, convict and heal!
  • Praise for exceeding our goal for the Uzima water filters project! We will be placing a water filter in each class room at the Junior Academy. We will also be putting water filters at Tambach, Kabarnet, Nakuru and Ngeria prisons. Praise to Agora coworking community and Start With One Kenya for making this possible (and giving us a discount)..
  • Praise for Teresa Webb and Desert Rose Ministries. We were blessed to have the opportunity to visit the remote area of Mt Paka in East Pokot to minister in the community. (scroll down for photos and more info)
  • Praise as we will be returning to Mt Paka this weekend ...and a special praise for our new to us 1998 Land Rover Defender 110 tdi300 that will get us there.
  • Praise for the 450kg of beans we purchased from Celebrate Recovery. Some of these beans will feed the kids at Glory Shiners Junior Academy and some will be distributed at Mt Paka, East Pokot.
  • Praise for a smooth transition into our new home. We are closer to our church and work community, closer to the prison, and a little closer to the Junior Academy.
  • Praise for Caroline as she continues to minister to us.

Prayer Requests
  • Prayer for the regeneration program. The men are just learning to hear God's voice. Prayer as they tune their spiritual ear to His love, mercy and grace.
  • Prayer for the Junior Academy: kids, parents, teachers, guards and cooks.
  • Prayer for Desert Rose Ministries as Teresa is working to build a girls home for those rescued out of FGM (female genital mutilation).
  • Prayer for our team as we are traveling to Mt Paka this weekend. Prayer as we are in the early stages of establishing a church there.
  • Prayer for Celebrate Recovery Nakuru. They have been making soap, planting corn and beans...all while praising and growing in the Lord. Continue to pray for them as they are still faced with many challenges in their community.
  • Prayer for our wisdom and discernment as we are led by the Lord. We do not want to do anything on our own strength. Prayer that we decrease in the eyes of those we minister to and the Lord increase in their hearts.
Here is Julius with the water filters we are placing at the Junior Academy and in several prisons.

As we were getting settled into Nakuru, I heard about a missionary doing some work in a remote area of East Pokot. I was very excited to hear this as we have felt called to minister to the Pokot and have been waiting for the Lord to lead and direct us. So a few weeks ago we were blessed to travel with Teresa Webb and Desert Rose Ministries to Mt Paka, East Pokot, and see for ourselves the work the Lord has been doing. What an amazing time we had witnessing the relationships that Teresa has spent years building in the community. Please take time to pray for Desert Rose Ministries and visit their website. I know and pray that we will continue to work together in the future.
These young women are dressed in traditional Pokot bridal attire. Unfortunately they are dressed this way because they have just recently gone through the FGM (female genital mutilation) ritual and will now be sold as brides. Desert Rose Ministries is currently building a rescue home for some of these women. Please keep Teresa, Desert Rose Ministries and these women in your prayers.
Teresa has made so many loving relationships with the women of Mt Paka. They call her Mama Paka.
Teresa always brings love for the kids.
Blessings to you,
Joel, Tara and Caroline
