Greetings from David Palmer

[David Palmer Picture] Back home at last, just in time to catch the tail end of the New England fall foliage. Brilliant! Here is a little travelogue of my comings and goings since the last newsletter.

But, before I dive in, one quick notes. To anyone looking to train with me this year, the last class that I will be teaching will be at the lovely Pittsburgh School of Massage on November 11th to the 14th. Join me there!

Last July I reconnected with my Rapha Positive Touch friends from Trinidad & Tobago at the annual World Massage Festival in, of all places, Atlantic City. I spent a couple of days training trainers and helping with their application for approving chair massage as an occupation in the Caribbean. A highlight of the Festival was the induction of John Davis (center below), the President of Rapha, into the Massage Therapy Hall of Fame.

In September, I drove up to Quebec City for my annual bilingual TouchPro Chair Massage seminar with a very eager group of practitioners. The 2017 version is set for September 16-19.

Next stop, London, England, where I was greeted with a prominent advertisement (below) on the Piccadilly tube line as I departed Heathrow airport. On their website, Urban Massage, the company guarantees to have one of their 500+ vetted chair or table massage practitioners at your location within 60 minutes for only £65 (about $85). A great business model for a dense urban market.

While in London, I spent a couple ofdays with my TouchPro UK best buds (Ally and Michael). Then, I jumped the Eurostar train to Paris[Award Picture] where I helped Xavier Court Trainings celebrate the launch of the world's first government-approved diploma program for  chair massage. While in Paris I also received a beautiful award from the French Federation of Chair Massage (FEDEFMA) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the massage chair.

Both in Paris and the South of France I had the privilege of working with over 75 chair massage trainers and practitioners who each touched me very deeply with their hospitality and indomitable spirit despite a year of so many national tragedies. Here are some of the Xavier Court team relaxing after one of many long days.

Finally, part of my time in France was spent adding French subtitles to the excellent History Channel clip tracing the development of the massage chair and chair massage 30 years ago. You can view both versions here. Also, on the media front, I spent a day on a video shoot for a French version of the chair massage Kata. Most of that will be available as part of the new diploma program soon.

While the future of the US presidential election and the World Series may still be in doubt, at this moment I declare the state of chair massage to be in good health and am looking forward to the next 30 years of continuing growth around the world.

In touch,
David
