and is an award-winning, waste-wise arts and community festival.
It is a free family-friendly event that will take place on Saturday 10 November 2018 at MacCabe Park,
in the heart of Wollongong’s CBD.

Join us for History week 2018! With a theme of Life and Death, we are exploring life's milestones and defining moments.
Monday 3 Sept, 10am-2noon - Author Talk:  John Parkinson & Jo Oliver.  Two writers talk about their research and journeys writing 'The Surgeon's Eye', based on Dr Richard Bowler and a biography of WW1 nurse, Jessie Trail.
Friday 7 Sept, 10am-12noon - Family History: Birth to Death The Illawarra Family History Group will give a talk on how to start your research.
Saturday 8 Sept, 2pm-4pm - Guest Speaker: Darling's Suicides.  Join James Dunk as he explores Governor Darling's moral purge that possibly lead to suicides in the early colony of NSW.

HEROINES YOUNG WOMEN WRITERS PROGRAM

Run in association with the South Coast Writers Centre's Young Writers' Group, and the Wollongong Youth Services, this writing program will provide creative writing and performance skill-building workshops for young women writers on the theme of re-writing or re-imagining the heroines of fairytale, folklore, and mythology,  with tutors, Dr Sarah Nicholson (Director, Heroines Festival), Helena Fox (Young Writers’ Group facilitator, South Coast Writers’ Centre), & Gabrielle Journey Jones (Director, Creative Womyn).  Open to all high school aged young women, and people who identify as women in a significant way.
