Do You Have Land for Sale?
Building for Beagles Update

Our generous corporate sponsors including our design team are ready to get started, but our obstacle is securing 0.5 acres of land for a 2000 sq. ft. building in the St. John’s, Mount Pearl, Paradise, CBS, or Torbay area (Newfoundland).

The Beagle Paws Adoption and Education Centre is a once in a lifetime project that will impact our community and the lives of homeless beagles for years to come. Your support will fund a larger capacity building, meaning many more innocent lives will be saved. As well, having a space designated for community involvement and education will lead to a better understanding of the beagle breed and, hopefully, less neglect.

If you have any land to sell or donate, and are looking to be a part of an exciting community project, please contact tasha@buildingforbeagles.com to discuss.

Interested in being a part of real change in your community? Together we can BUILD for THEIR future!

Community Group Visit

We want send a big beagle howl out to the Harbour Main kids summer camp!

Volunteers Emma, Stephanie and Tasha were on hand with Freckles, one of our rescued dogs, to share a little bit about Beagles, Beagle Paws and the proper care of dogs in general.

Thanks for the invite and for being such great listeners!

Volunteer Spotlight -
Happy Birthday Sheila!
President and Founder of Beagle Paws

As we get ready to celebrate 15 years of saving lives during the upcoming reunion and dog walk, we would also like to celebrate a very special birthday - the person who started it all, our volunteer president Sheila Lewis!

Sheila’s love of the beagle breed has become her passion. Promoting the beagle as a family pet and helping unwanted beagles get a second chance at life has been her mission since founding Beagle Paws in 2003.

When asked what is the best thing to happen to you since starting at BP, Sheila shared, “Seeing the wonderful transition of the outdoor hunting beagle into an indoor family pet; to see the stigma and myths surrounding hunting beagles change from negatives to positives; to experience the work of a team of dedicated volunteers right across Canada work towards the goal of changing the lives for abandoned and neglected beagles.”

When Sheila is not spending her extra time volunteering at Beagle Paws, she enjoys spending time with her own beagle rescues and family.

It is an honor to volunteer next to such a strong, fearless and determined leader and we are grateful for everything that you do each day for the organization and for all the homeless beagles over the years.

From your volunteer executive team, all the dedicated volunteers and the thousands of families for which you have facilitated so many successful adoptions - we want to wish you a very special Happy Birthday Sheila!

Edmonton Chapter News

General Veterinary Hospital’s Client Appreciation BBQ

Meet the beagles at General Veterinary Hospital’s Client Appreciation BBQ on Saturday, September 8 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.  There will be food hot off the grill, games and, of course, beagles.  Address is 11403 – 143 Street NW, Edmonton.  General Veterinary Hospital is a generous supporter of Beagle Paws and we’re delighted to be included in this event.

Beagle Mania

Queen Mary Park, 10844 – 117 Street, Edmonton is the scene of our ninth annual Beagle Mania on Sunday, September 9.  There will be doggie games and contests.  Pay a visit to “Sit Stay Squat” Human-Canine Fitness Services, Frisky Pup Canine Hydrotherapy, Elderdog dog care support for seniors, and the Alberta Force Free Alliance, among others.  Learn about the Chimo Animal Assisted Wellness and Learning Society (CAAWLS) pet therapy program.  Treat yourself to a hotdog fresh off the grill or check out our silent auction.  And don’t forget to drop off any unwanted clean and gently used dog supplies (collars, leashes, toys, etc.), dog food (opened or unopened), crates, Canadian Tire money or empty beverage containers.  This is the beagle event for central and northern Alberta you don’t want to miss.
