Keep It Fox

The good news is that we now have 57 regular monthly donors! Their contributions will make a real  difference when we are setting next years budget. However, we have over 200 families at Fox and it would be great if we had at least 100 families donating on a regular basis.

Remember the money raised will go directly into  the 2019-2020 school budget.

If you are able to make a donation please use one of the following options:

1. Online: one off or regular monthly payments can be set up with BT my donate.
https://mydonate.bt.com/charities/keepitfoxfund
This will be gift aided automatically.

2. Set up a recurring monthly Standing Order and fill in the Gift Aid Declaration form, see
www.fox.rbkc.sch.uk/keep-it-fox/

Children in Need - Friday 16th November
Next Friday we will be celebrating the BBC Children in Need day by asking pupils and staff to come to school wearing their pyjamas for a voluntary donation of £1. Pudsy accessories warmly welcomed too!

Author review by Emma Madden - Anthony Browne

Anthony Browne is one of our focus authors at Fox.  In Year 3, we look at a selection of his picture books, focusing on the interplay of text and illustration to reveal hidden meaning  'Willy the Dreamer' is one of my favourite books by him, and not one that we currently read in school.    It stars the eponymous hero -  Willy, the monkey.  The book is a sequence of intricately executed illustrations, representing Willy's dreams - be they of exploring, painting, flying, growing older or being young.  The often surreal illustrations pay homage to many famous painters, including Dali, Picasso and Rousseau, as well as film characters and much more.  Readers, both children and parents, will love to study these illustrations, pointing out the links to famous paintings and stories that they can find, as well as spotting Browne's famous hidden bananas.  Another great book of his is 'Willy's Stories', in which each double page spread jumps through a section of story from a classic narrative.  Like all the best picture books, Anthony Browne's can be read again and again and again and again....  Charity shops and libraries are full of Anthony Browne titles.

Anti-bullying week 2018

Next week (11th-16th November) is anti-bullying week at Fox. This week provides us with an occasion to particularly focus on anti- bullying to complement our ongoing curriculum, class and whole school coverage in this area.

Anti-Bullying Week shines a spotlight on bullying and encourages all to take action against bullying throughout the year. The theme this year is ‘Choose Respect’.

Each class will be spending some time to discuss bullying and will be completing work and carrying out different activities related to anti-bullying. We will be sharing our Anti- Bullying work in Friday’s assembly.

To celebrate what makes us ‘all different, all equal’ on Monday 11th November, we will ask all children (and staff!) to come in with odd socks on.  This is a fun opportunity for children to express themselves and appreciate individuality and uniqueness!
If you would like to sing the Choose Respect song by Andy and the Odd Socks at home, click the link.
Sleep workshop - Thursday 15th November 8.50am.

Did you know that a 2011 study showed that English children are the most sleep deprived in Europe?

Vicki Evans, RBKC Educational Psychologist will talk about the importance of sleep and present strategies on how to help children get more of it.

Please let the office know if you plan to attend.

Poppy Day Poem Competition

Congratulations and thank you to all poets. School Council and I were so honoured to read your poppy poems.

Your words captured the significance of WWI and of the centenary of the armistice in a poignant and charming way. We felt both proud and humble while reading them. Together, you have created a true message of Remembrance and gratitude.

It was a really  hard decision to choose our winners. We will be creating a WWI centenary display where your poems will be up for us all to enjoy all year.

Winner – Malu, Year 6
Runner up – Nicolien, Year 6
Runner up – Victoire, Year 2
Runner up – Esme, Year 4
