Colonial Williamsburg Fellowship 2018

EXARC is proud to cooperate with America’s largest outdoor living history museum, Colonial Williamsburg, in an annual fellowship offer. This year’s applications were very interesting and offered a very wide range of subjects to choose from. We are happy to say, that the winner is Prof. Dr. John Seidel with his multi-faceted project to pursue artifact analysis and structured experiments trades, while also designing a long-term undergraduate program to engage students and staff in multiple experiences and experiments over time.

EXARCs late Summer Conference

Our 13 - 15 September, 2018 conference will be about open-air museums and much more, in Lithuania. Please join us for “Archaeology for the People: Exhibition, Experience and Performance”. We are close to the international airport, the program looks fantastic, and everything is catered for, thanks to our host, the State Cultural Reserve of Kernave (LT) and our co-organiser IMTAL-Europe. Three days of conference and excursion for only 95 EUR. Attention: registration closes on July 31.

October: the REARC Conference in the United States

Once again, experimental archaeologists from around the world will be gathering at Colonial Williamsburg for the 8th International Conference on Reconstructive and Experimental Archaeology (REARC). In addition to hearing scholarly presentations, attendees can engage with a variety of historic craftspeople as well as experts in prehistoric technologies while touring one of eastern North America’s most important early colonial sites. This year’s conference will be held from October 18-20, 2018.  Activities will include a day of paper sessions and a day of hands-on activities on the Williamsburg grounds.
