The Spring Newsletter

Hello,

Thank you for being a subscriber to my newsletter! Welcome to my spring issue. There is a lot of news to go over for my upcoming solo show, multiple new paintings to unveil here first and another exhibit that is viewable online right now out of California. Enjoy.

Solo Exhibit is Still On This June

It's been a challenging few months hasn't it?

Over the past 6 months I've been working away on my FIRST Solo Exhibit in almost 15 years for Elaine Fleck Gallery In Toronto this JUNE! (1351 Queen Street West, Toronto, ON M6K 1M1). The gallery has decided to move forward with exhibiting the show for the month of June and will be showing work while practicing social distancing and surface sanitization measures.

So hopefully you can make it out or take a look at the work virtually if you are unable to visit in person.  Make sure you follow my feeds and keep an eye on my exhibits page for updates.

Newsletter Exclusive: New Painting

To celebrate the Exhibit opening next month I wanted to share an NEW EXCLUSIVE for my newsletter with the release of a new 60x40" painting called "Reconstructing Hope". After Disney Resorts and Theme Parks closed down for months globally due to the Covid-19 pandemic the need for them to rebuild trust has never been higher.
Reconstructing Hope (2020), 60x40" Acrylic on Birch
The work features a famous flying elephant statue made out of brass, being taken through the air by 5 zeppelins (mimicking the 5 crows that helped him fly in the original animated film*). I wanted to try a grand painting of clouds and avoid detailed landscapes I usually paint for this one to give it an uplifting, positive feeling. He is made of brass - like the Mickey Mouse* statue in an older painting as I wanted him to have some weight and strength against such a bright backdrop. The painting is my second in the Idols work - joining Idol Woody. I will have 2 more yet to be unveiled paintings in the solo exhibit with 'now' Disney owned properties. You'll see those 2 in June.

This painting and others will be available from Elaine Fleck Gallery if you would like to inquire on purchase.

Tiny Terrors Family Photo Paintings

Additionally if you don't follow me on Instagram you likely missed the release of another new TINY painting for an upcoming June Exhibit at The Dark Art Emporium in Long Beach. This is a group show for small works...tiny works...So I painted some of the smallest pieces I've ever made. So Small it made my hands hurt!
Family Photo 1 (2020), 4"x4" Acrylic on Birch
Retail at $250 USD from the Gallery
Family Photo 2 (2020), 4"x4" Acrylic on Birch
Retail at $250 USD from the Gallery
The second painting Family Photo 2 was NOT shown on Instagram - another NEW EXCLUSIVE for  my newsletter this month!

To create these I took two of my own family vacation photos and replace my family with the visitors I often paint. This is also the first theme park painting that isn't Disney* with the one for Universal Studios* in Orlando. These 2 small paintings are a new idea I'm hoping to explore more either with my own family vacation photos or through commissions. They will be on exhibit and available from the Dark Art Emporium gallery in Long Beach in June at the Tiny Terrors 3 Exhibit.

Exhibiting now...

With the world in lock down galleries are also trying to find ways to still bring artwork to the masses and give collectors the ability to decorate their walls with new work. Earlier this month the Dark Art Emporium launched a May Group show with an online Live Facebook stream where they took viewers through each work and created a virtual tour of the show (and dropped the camera at my paintings LOL - classic).

Newsletter Print Give-away

Finally, I also announced on my site and on social channels that I would be giving away a print to subscribers of my newsletter with a value of $350. Though I didn't see as good a turn out I am still going to randomly pick a subscriber on May 31st. I will contact them by email. If you know any art fans, Disney fans, art collectors or buyers who would be interested in my work please feel free to ask them to sign up too at www.toddlawson.com/newsletter.
Thank you for reading if you made it this far! And if you aren't be sure to subscribe to my social networks to keep up on news and updates and share this newsletter with whoever you think will dig my work.

Hopefully I'll have another newsletter later in the summer with some new work that will take my visitors out of theme parks and into other landmarks across the glob.

In the mean time stay safe.
