A MESSAGE FROM ROBBIE MCROBBIE, OUR CEO

With the Rugby World Cup just a couple of weeks away, excitement is reaching fever pitch, and consequently this month’s Bulletin has a strong RWC flavour…

For those unable to get across to Japan, never fear!  We are working with our Foundation partner Societe Generale to put on a fantastic Fanzone in Central, where you can watch all games live on a big screen, and in between match days we’ll be organising a host of fun rugby activities for youngsters from our Foundation programmes, and welcoming some special guests including Tom Williams who will speak at a Foundation lunch about the “Bloodgate” incident a decade ago.  We are also helping host an official England World Cup Dinner on 17th October at the Conrad Hotel, with some of the biggest names in English rugby in attendance – Martin Bayfield, Martin Johnson, Jason Leonard, Ben Kay, Mike Tindall, and more…proceeds will go to the Foundation and to Child Fund “Pass it Back”, the official RWC charity partner.  And talking of Child Fund…thanks to the generosity of Societe Generale a group of boys and girls from our Foundation will join other youngsters from charity projects around the region for a special youth tournament and exchange programme in Japan, and they will get to watch one of the RWC semi-finals!

And who do I think will lift the Webb Ellis Trophy on 2nd November?  Let me refer you to the article on the Tony Ho Summer Camp, which featured Scottish international John Barclay, who I’m confident will soon be able to add “World Cup winner” to his CV…

Enjoy the RWC!
