Getting Exposure, Gaining Confidence


How work experience and AccessAbility Day can break down barriers to disability employment.

Increasing an employer’s exposure to disability is a powerful way to build their confidence and ultimately break down these barriers – but how can we make this happen?

The webinar will:

  • explore practical strategies and learn how work experience can deliver a range of benefits for both people with disability and employers;

  • show you how you can get involved in AccessAbility Day 2019 to provide the opportunity for job seekers with disability and employers to connect for a day and experience what each has to offer

The Victorian Government through the Dry Seasonal Conditions Initiative will provide businesses in our shire with up to 5 FREE mentoring sessions with a Small Business Mentoring Service Mentor. To book your sessions go to SBMS website and click on 'I want to book with a voucher', use voucher code dsci5b.

The training aims to assist businesses impacted by dry seasonal conditions.

Small Business Mentoring Service with the support of Small Business Victoria are also conducting Small Business Clinics. These 45-minute one-on-one sessions are provided with Council support.

Sessions will be held at Council's Customer Service Centre, 24 Service Street Bairnsdale.

The new Environment Protection Amendment Act 2018 (the Act) signals an important change in how we regulate pollution, waste and contamination in Victoria. When it comes into operation in July 2020, it will be the beginning of a fairer, more proportionate era of environmental regulation for Victorian businesses.

The EPA and DELWP are leading the development of the proposed regulations and the environment reference standard (ERS), to support the new laws.

To assist business operators to learn more about the Environment Protection Authority, the new legislation, and determine how the new laws might affect you, Stacey Clark from the EPA will be available in Bairnsdale to speak with interested business operators.

AUSINDUSTRY BOOSTING FEMALE FOUNDERS - WEBINAR

Friday 4 October

We want to hear from stakeholders in the startup and innovation ecosystem about how we should design the program, including criteria to target our investment into female founders, with emphasis on those that experience greater barriers to access capital.
 
There will be an online webinar will run for 2 hours, including a presentation of what Boosting Female Founders is and what the program aims to achieve. Following this we will open each question within the discussion paper for comment.
A department representative will speak to some of the responses that are submitted to each discussion guide question.

UPCOMING BUSINESS TRAINING WORKSHOPS

Event Planning Workshops
Council's events team will facilitate training sessions to assist community groups and individuals who are planning public events. Training will cover all aspects of planning events, including permit requirements, templates and resources will also be available.

2020 Business Training
The 2020 business training workshops begin on 2 March with a workshop on 'How to Turn Your Idea into a Business" If you have a great business idea or are already in the early stages of starting a business, this workshop will ensure you have all the basics covered.


On 20 April, a business planning essential workshop, "How to Build a Roadmap to Success" will assist you to put your business on the path to long-term success. This workshop will take you, step by step, through the vital process of building a business plan to drive your business forward.
