T'ARTS CHRISTMAS

t's Christmas and the Artists at T'Arts, like busy elves in Santa's workshop, have been producing an amazing array of wonderful Christmas gifts to give to the people you love.
So hard to decide !  And how can you stop at just one! … 
(You might like to get yourself a little treat too! Go on... we won't tell)

T'Arts has a new member, Woodworker James Stevens, (pic, above) 

James says : "I was trained as a Technology Teacher in the late 70's and taught in South Australia for the majority of my career. As a Technology teacher I worked in wood and developed a love of its working characteristics as well as its variations in texture, colour and patterns. I spent a lot of my spare time as a young teacher perfecting my skills and found I loved wood turning but couldn’t work with difficult grained wood as successfully as I liked.  As I progressed with my teaching career I was exposed to CAD packages and CNC machining and saw that there were possibilities of working difficult/impossible pieces of timber using these technologies. Since retiring from teaching I now spend a few weeks every year collecting difficult, highly figured burl timbers and desert timbers from Western Australia and Tasmania and developing them into unusually shaped wooden objects using Cad and CNC techniques, with a whimsical touch every so often. " James Stevens

Pepper Street Art Centre Tutors Exhibition
21st Jan to 8th Feb 2020.
Helen Moon has been running monthly silk painting workshops for several years, and recently NUNO felting workshops at the wonderful community art centre in Magill. There will be a varied and interesting collection of work on display, and Helen is looking forward to participating. 


 
In other news Australian Landscape Jewellery (Suzette Watkins) has just been accepted 
to exhibit at WOMADelaide 2020 (March 8 - 11) and the National Folk 
Festival in Canberra at Easter (April 9 - 13).
