Welcome back to the new term and the start of a new decade. Happy New Year everyone and a special welcome to the new children that have joined this term. I hope you all enjoyed a break with your family over the holiday period. We all look forward to a busy, productive, academic term full of sport and musical events.
We have received information from Stamford School about free French and Spanish classes held at Stamford School on Saturday mornings this term. We have been invited but numbers are limited. If you are interested in your child participating then please contact the school office for further details. These sessions are free and available to Year 5 and Year 6. The ultimate goal is for pupils to feel more confident about expressing themselves in a foreign language in order to build on that foundation at Secondary School.
If any of your children are interested in becoming a chorister at St Wulfram's Church, please let us know. Dr Williams who teaches our choir alongside Miss Linehan is looking for new members for the church choir. Dr Williams is the choirmaster at St Wulfram's church and the choir have sung at many inspirational venues such as Windsor Castle and York Minster.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can help in anyway.
Many thanks for your support.
Enjoy the weekend.

A warm welcome to our new starters this term Alice, Thomas and Sienna. Alice joins us in Nursery, she loves playing lego and was lucky enough to receive some for Christmas! Thomas is Alice's brother and is in Reception. His favourite toy is a robot, which has wings and can fly! Both Alice and Thomas have a dog called Bobbie. Lastly we say hello to Sienna. Sienna joins us in Year 6 and is sister to Carlos in Year 3. Her favourite meal is Chicken nuggets and chips , yum yum, she has a cat called Minnie and she loves to dance.
Remember if you see them in the corridor to say hello!
The last holiday camp of 2019 featured all of our usual fun filled crafts and activities with a seasonal twist. We also welcomed back former TGPS student Josh Lewis who ran a drama workshop based upon the traditional poem "Twas the Night before Christmas". The children enjoyed reading about Santa and his Christmas Eve visit to a family's home. They were also excited to design and make their own colourful masks and props so they could re-enact the festive scenes from this beloved poem.
A trip to the Guildhall Arts Centre in Grantham solved the footwear mystery when the prince finally found Cinderella in the classic pantomime!
The last activity to get the children in the festive spirit was our traditional Christmas party. A good time was had by all and we were all ready to welcome Christmas into our homes.
We wish you all the best for 2020 and hope to see you again at our Easter holiday camp which will run from Monday 6th April to Thursday 9th April 2020.
The children in Reception were very excited this week when they had the opportunity to do some basic coding in the hall. They had fun programming some Code-pillars with key instructions like forwards, sideways, backwards and turning a quarter and turning a half. They also had some amusing sounds that they could make at the end of their program.
The children also used the Bee-bots to plan out different routes and go through some challenging obstacle courses that they had constructed. It was a super learning experience and showed us that the children were good at basic programming and knew lots of positional language too. Good IT work Reception!
First week back and Class Two have returned well-rested and positive for the New Year. I have been so impressed with their maturity and attitude. They have been focused and working hard in all of their timetabled lessons.
This week in Science the children have concluded their 'Animals including Humans' topic, where they have studied: Healthy Eating, Exercising, Survival, Hygiene, Life Cycles and much more. Today, each child discussed foods and drinks and how they were categorised.
As always, we have a terrific time in Class Two, but the Science lessons really are something special.
Next week they will complete their first Science Assessment to test their retention of the key facts from the topic.
Achievements come in all shapes, sizes and even temperatures! We are all so proud of Julia Katinka Marton in Class Two. She was skiing in Romania over the holidays and as you can see her and her family have had a wonderful time.
Anyone who is frequent to Sports Days at Grantham Prep will be aware of Julia's sporting prowess, so it is no surprise she is a natural skier too!
Congratulations Julia and you could definitely teach me a thing or two.
We are very lucky to have such talented Music teachers at our school. Mrs Bower, our violin and class music teacher is playing at the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham in the concert "Around the World in 80 minutes".
On December 13th the traditional Alumni Christmas dinner was celebrated. The meeting took place at a rainy school and had the support of a group of alumni who showed their enthusiasm and joy when they reunited with their old classmates.
Those present laughed and chatted, remembering his career at school. At the meeting, they enjoyed a delicious dinner. In the end, they wrote letters to school actual students and teachers, expressing them their feelings, advice, and gratitude, years after they graduated.

Want to find out what really caused the grand Roman Empire to collapse? Read UIS’ new comic team’s latest release and discover the political ambitions, economic crises, and intricate balances between causes and effects, which drew the final curtain on one of the greatest empires the world has ever seen. The Grade 5 comic strip creators reveal the buildup to the final meltdown in a series of sequential drawings, each created by a single artist, yet striving to maintain unity and coherence in the overall design.
The project saw the graphic artists discussing potential frames, then moving from gathering sketches and ideas, to drawing basic initial shapes, adding details, and going over the whole drawing in black ink. Evoking key ideas using sparse dialogue and lettering proved especially challenging. Stay tuned for the team’s next publication! They’re already brainstorming their latest area of exploration… Medieval Europe!
