STOP BILL 156 - FOR THEM
We've been bearing witness to pigs arriving to the slaughterhouse every week for the past 8 years. We are there not because we want to but because it is our duty to bear witness to what those animals go through before their murder.

Ottawa Farmed Animal Save held a vigil on January 16 at Leo’s Livestock auction to protest the proposed ag-gag Bill 156. They report: "This bill was lobbied by farmed animal farmers who claim they are fearful for their safety because of activists; in reality they don’t want the truth of what life is like for farmed animals to be exposed to the public. Talk to your MPP and let them know Bill 156 is unconstitutional!"

Also in Ottawa, CBC News reports from a protest against Bill 156: Animal rights activists decry Ontario bill that would limit farm protests

"A group of about 20 animal rights activists showed up at Ottawa's Lansdowne Park Saturday with signs and leaflets, encouraging the public to sign a petition against the law. It was one of several protests planned over the next month. "It will stop people from seeing animal suffering," said Lucie Tsi, who works with the Ottawa group Animal Rebellion Canada. Tsi points to the example of Ontario activist Anita Krajnc who made headlines in 2017 when she was arrested for giving water to pigs on the back of a transport truck on the way to a slaughterhouse. Krajnc was acquitted on charges of mischief, but if the new law is passed, similar actions could be found in violation."

Manitoba Animal Save held a "Roaring Silence Against Bill 156" protest in downtown Winnipeg on January 25. "25 of us marched down Portage to Main street, where we occupied the four corners and held our signs to passing motorists. We received many, many honks and thumbs up in support, and several pedestrians stopped to ask why we stood there. You don't have to be a vegan, or animal activist, to be disturbed by Bill 156. This legislation hides the truth of Big Ag, and the public has a right to know what they are funding, with their tax money and grocery spending."

Check out stopbill156.com to sign the petition, learn more and get involved in stopping this outrageous bill which would effectively ban bearing witness in Ontario!

Please sign and share our petition, which has over 30,000 signatures: Stop Ontario's Ag Gag Law

Montreal Animal Save report from their January 23 vigil at Volailles Marvid "Poultry": "Today we experienced more hostility from the truck drivers than ever before. It was a lot of folks' first vigil attendance today. We encourage you to share your thoughts/pictures . Likewise, for other folks that have attended before that would like to reflect on what they saw/felt today, we invite you to do the same."

Leo Tolstoy defines the duty to bear witness as: "When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to him who suffers, and try to help him."

We believe 2020 and this coming decade is decisive in determining our prospects for planetary survival. By tackling animal agriculture we can reduce methane emissions, a potent greenhouse gas which has a short life span in the atmosphere. Its half life is 10 years compared to CO2 which is 100 years. The Climate Save Movement is building a grassroots movement to solve the climate crisis by ending animal agriculture, reforesting the Earth and phasing out fossil fuels. Help save the planet by going vegan and promoting vegan #FoodSystemChangeNow! The climate crisis is upon us. We must rise up to mitigate and reverse it.

Cargill is destroying the planet. Our demand is that Cargill urgently switch to a plant-based food company.
#PlanetVsCargill
Planet V$ Cargill - Mexico!
As part of Climate Save Movement’s Planet V$ Cargill campaign, Mexican activists have launched the national campaign Mexico V$ Cargill, our first simultaneous multi-city disruption against the multinational corporation Cargill. On February 1 we will host 9 simultaneous disruptions against Cargill in 9 different Mexican cities. We'll be working with other activist groups and Save chapters from 15 cities and uniting Animal Save Movement, Climate Save Movement, Health Save Movement.
Our demand is that Cargill urgently switch to a plant-based food company. We will deliver our demands to the company and host sit-ins on busy avenues in front of or near Cargill's 26 facilities or at McDonald's and Walmart locations in case there is no Cargill facility in the city. Groups will stop traffic, wear animal masks against atmospheric contamination and to represent the violence against non-humans, humans and the environment, and will chain their hands and have speeches outlining our demands.
Climate Save Mexico organizers say It will be huge to have so many disruptions in one country with the press covering it and knowing that Cargill has received this document.

Berlin Climate Save joined Fridays for Future on January 24 for their climate strike. Many of the activists have different personal on why they joined the strike, and they all have in common the urgency they feel to end animal agriculture in order to ensure a future for the coming generations. People of all ages and backgrounds were present at the strike and stood united against companies such as Cargill.
----------------

Istanbul Climate Save protested Cargill. How can a single company do so much global damage? Cargill makes $119 billion every year and profits from massive environmental destruction. What can we do against this atrocity? We can be vegan and demand a plant-based food system! We stood in front of the Australian Embassy to draw attention to the horrible climate chaos.

Berlin Health Save protested at the Grüne Woche 2020 fair in Berlin on January 26. They report: "It's a popular belief that sustainable animal products are healthy or healthier for us and this fair profits immensely from this misconception. Animal farming isn't healthy for the animals and it's not healthy for us to eat them. The Grüne Woche fair, which means "green week" is green-washing animal agriculture and displays live as well as dead animals inside. Everyone deserves to know."

Berlin Health Save also went on the streets to distribute healthy vegan food to homeless people in Berlin. They were most excited about the fruit and described the difficulties of having access to healthy food. Many of them reported that they are often given unhealthy junk foods.

Brooklyn-Queens Animal Save held a vigil to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 20. They remembered his words: “Never be afraid to do what’s right, specially if the well-being of a person or an animal is at stake. Society’s punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.”

They were able to rescue a chicken! Martina will now live a life of peace.

NEW ZEALAND
Whanganui Animal Save report from their vigil at Land "Meats" on January 26: "We said goodbye to these boys and girls today. Look at their beautiful, gentle, innocent faces. They might seem calm, but they are worried, and some are very anxious. With good reason, because tomorrow their worst fears will materialise - they will be strung up by their hind legs and a man will slit their throats. How is it that we are still doing such barbaric things to powerless animals when we know we shouldn't be, and we don't have to?"

EUROPE
AUSTRIA
Vienna Cow Save bore witness at the Grandits slaughter plant on January 17. "Imagine it is your turn. You are forced to enter the death station. A bolt is shot into your head. Not much later you wake up. You were hung up headfirst from the ceiling. Someone approaches you and pushes a knife into your throat. Your death torment only ends when the blood loss makes you unconscious. This was reality for him today."

GERMANY
Siegen Animal Save protested the fox hunt on January 24. They report: "We  joined a protest in which passersby were informed about the suffering of the animals and the actual interests of the hunting lobby with banners, posters and flyers. All major reasons for hunting mentioned by the hunters have long been considered scientifically refuted. If nature were allowed to run its course, the animals would adapt to the available space and food and would not reproduce to an unnaturally high degree, as happens through the interventions of the hunters."

The screams of terrified pigs forced toward the killing floor filled the air. Refrigerated trucks left the gates with their dismembered bodies to sate human greed. This isn’t food production, it’s industrial murder."
