Hello!! Welcome to my first newsletter! As a devoted fan of email newsletters and the internet in general, writing my own newsletter is something I've wanted to do for a while. So ya girl said, "no better time than the last day, of the first month, of the first year of the decade to do something NEW!"
It's hard to say when or why I became so obsessed with online-y things. It could've been in 1997 when I sent my first email (to my dad). The subject line? "Hi Dad." The body of the email? Empty. Was I unknowingly inventing iMessage? Maybe ;) Or perhaps it was the Neopets phase that got me. While other 13yr olds were making out with each other at the mall, I was feeding virtual food to my virtual pets. Very cool!
Whatever the reason, my love for online-y things runs so deep that I gifted myself a mf newsletter as an outlet to share/write/talk about alllll the things I see on the internet. And somehow (probably because I already had your email, but maybe because you willingly gave it to me) you got roped into this too.
Thanks for being here ❤️ now onto the internet things!

Ever since watching CHEER on Netflix I've been following (stalking ??) them on IG to see what they're up to (LTRLY sighed in relief when I saw Lexi was back at Navarro). They are just sooo darling and I love this article, especially the pictures.

@garyjanetti makes the best Royal Family memes. Tbh I have become really invested in Meg & Harry !! I know lots of people think it's stupid and don't like her, but I feel for the girl !! This episode of The Daily podcast makes a really good case for why their story is important (and strangely enough, also helped me to better understand Brexit), even if on the surface it just seems like celebrity gossip.

Have you read Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson? I read it with my book club and learned SO much:
The movie just came out too, but I would argue that the book is really, really worth reading in this case.

Do you know who you're voting for yet? I *think* I have an idea. I mean clearly, this cactus as president would be better than our current situation...but, this cactus is not running! Nithya Raman is running for LA City Council. She is super smart and just a cool person and basically, who I want to be when I grow up. I learned so much from her Twitter thread on homelessness in LA. The current systems in place make it very, very hard for people to get shelter and services.

All the LA Metro trains and buses have a little tribute to Kobe on their marquees. My office is a few blocks from Staples Center, so I walked over there the other day. It was really, really heavy, but little things like this remind you that the world can still be sweet place <3
