The Forever Changing World

In traditional education, teachers spend more time telling students what to think instead of how to think. The carefully manicured content constructs a predesigned understanding of the world. Their goal is not adaptability for their students but more of a blueprint of thought.
Malleable and Motivational Framework
of Aesthetic Values

Interactions that question how we see, feel and think can cause us to temporarily be uncomfortable, but it is only through an intense focus on self-identity that we can fully understand the value of our voice. Creative reflection is a responsibility we have to ourselves and to the improvement of our environment.
Team marketing and communications earned two silver awards for 1926, the school's alumni magazine and a silver award for an advertising campaign.
 

Laura Tonini, Lower School educator


Mrs. Tonini challenges her third graders to think for themselves. She views her role as a partner in their learning and refers to herself as the “lead learner” in the classroom.

Andy D'Avanzo, Middle School math educator


Mr. D’Avanzo shares that there is a misconception that math fluency equals speed. However, language fluency doesn’t mean one speaks faster. His teaching strategy includes de-emphasizing the solution and emphasizing the process of understanding. 

Siham Gheewala, Upper School English educator


Teachers don’t normally encourage their students to fight but in Ms. Gheewala’s English class “The Fight” is one of the activities she has created to encourage her students to think for themselves. It’s not physical; this game is based on critical thinking, and it tests the student’s beliefs. And they love it.

Conor Foley, library assistant


Organization is key when working in the library. Mr. Foley helps streamline the system for receiving and processing new materials. He wants students to see an ever-changing array of new books and know that the library is a dynamic place where they should check in often.
