SMP 6th Grade Trial of Abraham
March 16 • 11:30 am

6th graders and their teen staff put the Biblical figure, Abraham, on trial to determine whether he lived an ethical life. The students will do this by using ethical principles that they have learned throughout the SMP school year.

NEW MINCHA TIME
Starting Saturday, March 23, Shabbat Mincha Services will be at 1 pm. When there is a learning session after Kiddush lunch, Mincha will be held at 1:30 pm. Yahrzeits for the following day will ALWAYS be read at this service and Bar/Bat Mitzvah students will continue to participate in Shabbat Mincha Torah readings.

She will work closely with Rabbi Weininger, Anna Simon (our Director of Congregational Life) and Janice Schachtman (our Gan Shelanu Preschool Director) on Makom (20s/30s) and HaLev (Family) programming.

Egypt's Sunken Cities at the MIA with Atid

Thursday, March 21 • 6 pm at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts
Please join us for an informal Atid gathering at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. We will be touring the Egypt’s Sunken Cities exhibit. Tours will be offered at 6:15 pm and 7:30 pm. We are honored that Jan-Lodewijk Grootaers, PHD Curator of African Art & Department Head will lead us in these tours. Afterwards stay for a glass of wine or a treat at Agra Culture located on the first floor of the museum. We will be there until the café closes at 9 pm.

Keep in mind there is only room for 18 people per tour and is on a first come first serve basis.

Weekly Torah Portion: Shabbat Vayikra

Every week, JTS (Jewish Theological Seminary) sends out new commentaries created by their faculty, students and staff.

In this Torah portion, God describes the laws of animal sacrifice. God explains the different sacrifices that atone for guilt or sins, and distinguishes between sins committed inadvertently and sins committed on purpose.
