NANOOS Engagement Activities
Saltwater Sportsmen’s Show

NANOOS had the pleasure of participating in the Saltwater Sportsmen’s Show at the Oregon State Fairgrounds in Salem, OR, on February 23-24. Hosted by the Oregon Coalition for Educating ANglers (OCEAN). Outreach staff member Alex Mitchell-Morton hosted a seminar on using the NVS Tuna Fishers App to help fishermen catch tuna more efficiently and monitor sea surface conditions.

Thank you to OCEAN for hosting us, and for all the fishermen who stopped by the NANOOS booth to share their experiences with the app!
Promoting Safe Boating Conditions

NANOOS Outreach staff again provided demonstrations of the NVS Boaters App at annual boat shows in both Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington. Recreational boaters were able to try out the NVS Boaters App by visiting the NANOOS booth at the Portland Boat Show January 12-13, and watched a live demonstration at the Seattle Boat Show on January 31.

The NVS Boaters App provides users with real-time and forecast water and weather data in order to plan safe trips.
NANOOS Engages Marine Stewards

NANOOS staff participated in the annual Sound Water University: "A One Day University for All" on Whidbey Island, WA on February 3, where they engaged with interested citizens with a variety of backgrounds. NANOOS offered NVS demonstrations of all our user-defined apps to gain insight on current and forecasted coastline, estuaries, ocean, and weather conditions.
