Chromebook bundle
LGfL has put in place another great deal for Chromebook bundles. We have 100 bundles at a great price of £6,541 (payable by the school.) These are available on a 'first come first served' basis and only one per school. The bundles consist of:
Security Audit
LGfL is working with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC, part of GCHQ) to take a snapshot of the state of Cybersecurity in UK schools. Can you help shape the UK's response to the threats schools face and help us to equip you to meet your training needs? All we ask is for one member of each school to take five minutes to answer a few multiple choice questions.
The audit is live now and open for one month until 15 April. Take part now (if you aren't the headteacher, check with her/him that is has not already been assigned to someone).
Training from LGfL
There are lots of new courses for the Summer term on our training portal. Training is FREE for all LGfL teachers and is held on a Tuesday at Camden CLC, or at one of our partner venues, you can find out more about the courses on offer and how to sign up here. Examples of future courses include: Mental Health Training, Online Safety, Creative Computing, EYFS as well as Google, Microsoft and Apple training.
You can also book one of the Learning Resource Consultants to come in to your school and deliver INSET sessions, or map your curriculum to LGfL resources, a perfect way to prepare for the term ahead and ensure you are making the most of the LGfL resources available to you. Kew Gardens Endeavour Challenges
Kew Gardens have developed a series of Endeavour challenges for KS2 and KS3 pupils. These challenges engage pupils in critical thinking about topics related to plants, science and the environment. Schools can sign up to Endeavour to access all of these FREE learning resources, some of the challenges are competitions and each year schools can win £1000 towards science equipment. Stronger than Hate challenge from Discovery
The Stronger than Hate challenge inspires pupils to take positive local action against prejudice and to capture their work in a short film. Pupils will listen to powerful testimonies of survivors and witnesses of genocide, and create opportunities to effect change in their schools and communities. Pupils are asked to complete research-based and curriculum-aligned activities, culminating in taking action against hate. The challenge asks pupils to capture their journey in a video essay purposed to help them in sharing their message. The challenge is open until the 6th May and pupils aged 13-18 can enter by themselves or as part of a team of up to four members. The first prize is a school grant of £5,000 and an iPad for the winning child(ren) with the second and third prize entries being a £1,000 and £500 school grant respectively plus iPads for the winning child(ren). The challenge is free for schools to enter. You can find out more and register your interest here.
Dates for the Diary LGfL Annual Conference 25th April 2019 The conference is aimed at SLT, Teachers and LSAs and will include a range of keynotes and seminars.
