THE SAVE MOVEMENT AROUND THE WORLD

IN THIS ISSUE

Our Weekly News Update
Save continues to grow all over the world! We now have 685 Animal Save groups in 72 countries listed on our website. We also have 105 Climate Save groups in 38 countries and 27 Health Save groups in 18 countries.
Help Us Bring BeFairBeVegan to Toronto! Watch our campaign video: please go to Save's YouTube channel. Learn more, donate if you are able, and share Our GoFundMe campaign.
We have very exciting news! With your help, we can bring BeFairBeVegan to Toronto! BFBV is a high-profile advertising campaign that presents to the consuming public the end of all animal use as the prerequisite for a fair and just society. Unlike many animal advocacy campaigns, BFBV’s central message is that veganism is a matter of fundamental justice, not a matter of convenience or personal choice.
Toronto is now poised to become the
eighth city to host BeFairBeVegan’s provocative billboards, challenging both residents and summer visitors to consider the consequences of using products that involve animal exploitation. Please check out these artists impressions below of how the campaign will look. With 2019 being hailed as “the year of the vegan,” this is the perfect time to bring BeFairBeVegan’s powerful vegan message to Canada’s most populous city.

200 activists take over Excelsior "Hog" Farm in Abbotsford, B.C., Canada
On April 28, 65 activists locked themselves down inside the farm. A further 140 activists held a protest outside of the facility. This action is part of the international movement called “Meat the Victims” and the first such in Canada.

Here are some of the news stories covering the action:
Global News: Animal rights activists occupy B.C. pig farm over abusive conditions allegedly caught on video
Dan Moskaluk, former RCMP officer and one of the organizers of the protest, said the protesters had come together from across North America to “speak out against the cruelty of the agriculture industry and to stand in solidarity with the animals.” “The truth has been hidden from the public and we believe people are making choices that are contrary to their values,” Moskaluk read from a prepared statement. “Most people are against animal cruelty, and would not want to support this industry if they actually knew what was truly happening.”

Sentient Media: Watch: Unprecedented Animal Rights Protest at Pig Farm
"Nearly 200 animal rights activists gathered outside of an industry-leading pig farm in an industry-leading country: to bring awareness to the crimes of animal agriculture. On the back of the shirts worn by the demonstrators, Meat the Victims adorned this simple truth, 'One has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws.'
"In a sweeping act of defiance, activists can be seen sprinting past the 'No Trespassing' signs and attempting to gain access to the pig farm. In doing so, they put themselves at certain risk of facing criminal trespassing and breaking and entering charges. 'That’s okay,' said Amy Soranno, organizer for Okanagan Animal Save and a spokesperson for the group of activists who made it inside the facility. 'We’re challenging the law. That’s what we came here to do.'”

The Climate Save Movement

The Climate Save Movement is building a grassroots movement to solve the climate crisis by ending animal agriculture, reforesting the Earth and phasing out fossil fuels. Help save the planet by going vegan and becoming active. Animal agriculture is a key source of greenhouse gas emissions,
which can all be eliminated entirely. It is also the leading source of ocean dead zones, deforestation, mass species extinctions, and excessive water use. Veganism and reforestation are critical parts of climate actions and, along with eliminating fossil fuels, are our last hope against catastrophic tipping points for our climate.
The climate change crisis is upon us, and we must urgently rise to mitigate  and reverse it. The great news is that there are new Climate Save groups being formed all around the world!
Please welcome our new chapters:

Veganuary is great for anyone to get started.

Donate Today!

Toronto Pig Save started in December 2010, with a promise to the pigs of doing a minimum of three vigils and vegan outreach events each week, all year round. We bear witness as a community of pigs, cows, chickens and other farmed animal victims in slaughterhouse trucks. The animals want us to be present and, with the most pleading eyes, ask for our help when we see them through the portholes of transport trucks. Just as if we were in those horrid trucks, we would want the whole community to be there fighting for our freedom, liberation, rights, and equality. In a way, we are there. All life is one and, “when (wo)men wish to harm others, they really do evil to themselves,” Leo Tolstoy said in his animal rights story “Esarhaddon, King of Assyria”. It’s our positive duty and obligation to act in the present to try to stop the most egregious injustices before us.

"When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to her who suffers, and try to help her.” – Leo Tolstoy

In 8 years, The Save Movement has grown to over 680 Save groups in 72 countries around the world. Our dream is to have regular vigils at every slaughter plant worldwide. We regularly give seed money to new Save groups and require funds for literature, posters, subway ad campaigns (iVegan.ca) and vegan outreach events.

Make animal liberation your priority in life! Think of 10 kind things you can do each day and encourage your friends to do the same! Join us and participate in our weekly vigils, start a Save group in your community, and be a regular donor.
