Do more Yoga!

How do you do more yoga? Especially in the summer, when the pace and energy level seems kicked up several notches. Your schedule and routine may be disrupted, because the kids are home from school, or you have company or because it's the summer. Can you keep in touch with the still point on the inside when everything starts moving faster (or slower, if we're talking about traffic) on the outside? How do you do more yoga? You could... do Uttanasana with a hip tip on one of the benches on the boardwalk and get some tailbone release; stand in Tadasana while you wait in line; add 20 minutes of Ujjayi Pranayama to your day - do it at the beach for the sound of the ocean on the outside and the inside; utilize one of Swamiji's Quick Fixes (we have 5 so far - Level Up, 3-5 Ujjayi breaths, 2 minutes of mantra repetition, cultivating yogic responses, and the pause between the breaths); take an extra class, or bring your company to class with you; come to the free meditation satsang on Wednesdays from 6pm-7:30pm; treat yourself to an Embodyment® session or a series; take a 1/2 day workshop; explore all the free teachings available to you from Swami Nirmalananda; repeat mantra; and so much more!

Terry's Thoughts: Greetings fellow yogis,  Wonderful things occurred in May, promising an exciting June and summer ahead! On May 11th (my mother’s 108th birthday in heaven), Sadguru Swami Nirmalananda came to Rehoboth for a special satsang. We gathered at Prema Lynn Cattafi’s beautiful home where we were able to chant, meditate and talk with our dear teacher and offer our gratitude for the teachings she has bestowed upon us. After a morning of deep practices, we enjoyed a delicious Pot Luck and each other’s company, it was so uplifting to share the deeper aspects of yoga .
     This edition of the newsletter is chock full of ways to enhance and enjoy our community this summer. Be sure to read about the results of the class schedule survey below, and thank you to all that participated! We will be adding some new class times this summer, giving you more opportunity to spend time with your yoga community.
      We are also offering so much support for your meditation practice - please join us and we will meditate as a group, which is an amazing experience, always deeper and an important part of your yoga lifestyle. Thank you so much for your participation,  for your yoga practices and your continued support. Here’s to a summer full of yoga and community with our fellow yogis!

Poses/Asana
We teach Svaroopa® yoga at Rehoboth Beach Yoga. In Svaroopa® yoga, the focus is on releasing tension in the muscles around your spine. We get that release with precise alignments and support in the poses. In addition to our daily classes (check out our schedule!), we're offering the following asana events:

Thursdays, June 6 - September 5 - Yoga and Meditation Series, 6pm-7:30pm, $150

Saturday, June 8 - Walk like a Svaroopi, 1pm-4pm $45

Sunday, June 9 - Free Yoga Class, 1pm

 
Meditation
We teach Svaroopa® Vidya Meditation at Rehoboth Beach Yoga. If you want to start a meditation practice, restart your practice, or are a regular meditator, we have programs to support you! We're offering the following meditation events in June:

SVA logoThanks to everyone that joined us last night as we celebrated Swami Nirmalananda's Shakti[at anniversary! Meditating is always better in a group, and preparing for meditation with yoga poses is even sweeter! Swamiji's discourse was relevant as always - it seems like she knows exactly what we need to hear, you know? It's always wonderful when we can gather as a community to celebrate each other and this amazing yoga!

Downingtown Yoga and Meditation CenterSwami Sunday is  a free program offered in Downington, PA most Sundays. Kelly attends a couple of times a month, and would love for you to join her, or meet her up there! There's something very special about seeing Swamiji in her home. The first portion of the morning, The Guru Gita, begins at 8:30am, which means a 6am DE departure. If chanting (or a 6am departure) is not for you, please consider heading up for the 10am for satsang. Swami Nirmalananda will lead the group in another (shorter) chant, and then offer some teachings. Kelly will be going up on June 16th and June 30th. If those dates don't work for you, consider July 7th and July 28th. If you're interested in attending both the Guru Gita and Satsang, you are welcome to hit the road with Kelly at 6am. If you would like to meet her up there later for Satsang, she can coordinate that with you. And, if you had time, we could certainly avail ourselves to lunch afterwards at one of the many delicious restaurants in the area. What a great way to spend a Sunday... on a yoga field trip! Your Yoga Space
Do you have a yoga space at home? Whether it's a corner or a wall or a room, we'd love for you to share it with us! Send a picture of your yoga space to My Yoga Space and we'll post pictures here next month. Don't have a home yoga space? Start one by adding a piece yogic decor to your home. Check out some options at the ashram here. If you're looking for a tapestry, this site is where the Om tapestry in the studio was purchased.
With All Your Heart fundraiser
Yoga teaches you to put your heart into whatever you do, especially into your yogic practices. As yoga quiets your mind, you tune into your heart, your own essence. You progress in your practices and your heart swells. When you open your heart, you naturally want to give from the bottomless depth of your being. You want to contribute. It works the other way too. Swamiji says that when you open your wallet, even a little bit, you open your heart. Support the heart of this powerful practice. Private Sessions

A private session is an opportunity for you to work one on one with a yoga teacher/therpaist. There are different types of private sessions you can sign up for, including Embodyment® Yoga Therapy, Overlap Healing, Vichara Yoga Therapy, and Pose work.

Who can benefit from private sessions? People with a tight spot they can't quite release in class, people with chronic pain, people new to Svaroopa® yoga who want to familiarize themselves with the yoga before joining a class, people with busy minds that want to quiet them down, people who want support in developing a home practice, people who want to take their practice deeper, people who are facing challenges and could use some extra support... you get the idea. Everyone could benefit from a private session, and what a wonderful addition to your practice and way to take care of yourself!
