Welcome to Rice! We’re so glad you are here and look forward to meeting you at Graduate Orientation! International student orientation is August 19-20, and mandatory orientation for all incoming grad students is August 21.

There are some things you can do to make your transition to grad school easier, and we’ve listed those below. You can find more in-depth information and a checklist here.

Before you arrive
  • ASAP: Activate your NetID, ESTHER account, and Rice Google Mail as soon as possible.
  • By July 1: Complete and submit the required Student Health Forms. A physical exam and physician’s signature are required. Instructions can be found here.
  • By August 31: Register or waive Rice Student Health Insurance. Open enrollment starts July 9; review your options here.
  • By October 1: Complete required online trainings.
  • By October 1: Submit your final transcripts.
  • Regularly: Explore housing options, commuter routes, and more here.
  • Regularly: Check your Rice email. IT help can be found here.
