Our View of Life, Matters
The Caregiver's Voice

Volume 10: Issue 9

We Can Change the Course of Our Lives

When LIFE is hard, we can choose how we view what happens. How we see things can change the course of our lives. No matter how difficult, it's up to us to get on with life. We learn which friends, family, and colleagues matter as they join us along our journey.

Thank you for sending emails in response to August 2019 - Milestone Birthday! Changes Coming! Unlike being a caregiver, I don't want to go through this again!

Some of you thanked me for my transparency. Most of you wrote a similar message: You have given so much of yourself helping others.

What has really helped is writing two full-length books of journals. I'll write more about journaling, next month.

Until then, I love this advice from a friend and humble colleague who was bestowed honors by the Queen of England. (My email request to use a portion of what he wrote went unanswered, so this is unattributed and used without permission.)

"...you need a rest and you will come back re-invigorated.
There will be no holding you back. You will go on to greater things. I don't think you have it in you to stay down.
Even God rested on the seventh day."

And this from LaVern West, who I met almost 20 years ago in Tennessee at a nationwide caregiver gathering. She still expresses gratitude for the way I helped her feel included and valued. Sometimes, it's the little things we do that have the biggest meaning in people's lives. LaVern's message brings me hope today and is printed here with permission.

"We just never know what is right around the corner - may there be many bouquets of surprises, happiness, and renewed hope just waiting for you."

Life has its ups and downs, yet I am getting on with my life. I am traveling in order to find the setting for the next chapter of my life. My work is geographically flexible. Who knows? I might be in your area next - Colorado, Florida, Washington, Oregon, Arkansas, and Jalisco (Mexico). Keep apprised of my adventures on my personal Facebook page

Transitions are a time for great beginnings!
Click to write to me if you have an opportunity we should explore.

Avadian's Musings

Transitions Worst Day? Best Day
It has been said - How we react to life's twists and turns determines our attitude and happiness. A young lady, decades away from sagehood, writes a poem that gives us two distinct views of life. It's up to us. Read Chanie Gorkin's poem written in 2015 while she was still in high school.
