      Gearing Up for Fall Fun

The Summer Reading program appears to be a huge success this year. We had 285 people reading 4080 books and 1,120 people attend the 72 programs this summer. We surpassed last year’s Summer Reading Program participation. We could not have done this without the support of our sponsors this year. The drawing for the prize baskets will be held soon and winners will be notified by phone. Keep an eye on social media and at the library for the list of basket winners. We cannot wait to announce the winners. Please take a moment when you see our sponsors to thank them for their support.

The next Master Gardener series in on Tuesday, August 6th at 4pm. Herbs are easy to grow, but what do you do with them? Join Master Gardeners Mickey Stafford, Joyce Caratura, and Jo Domann for a presentation about growing, preserving, and using common garden herbs.

Art Night Out with Liz Daniel continues in August with Chalkboard Art. Unsure of how to start or never crafted before? No worries! It is designed for the first-time crafter as she walks us through the project step by step. This event is for 16+ and anyone under the age of 18 needs to have an adult present. Registration is required for planning purposes and there is a $20 fee to cover all the supplies needed for the project. You can click here or on the image below to register or stop by or call the library.

We are so appreciative of the Friends hosting the Paint & Sip fundraisers that allow us to have these wonderful summer programs each year! This time our resident artist, Liz Daniel, will be leading the event and will be on Friday, September 13. The Community Center doors open at 6pm and painting starts at 6:30pm. Registration (click here or on image below) is just $40 for the event and all proceeds will go to the Friends Organization to support children's programming. Registration will be up soon. This is a BYOB event for adults and anyone between the ages of 18 - 20 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The Friends organization will provide snacks and water for the evening.

The library recently had a long-time volunteer retire who assisted with shelving, keeping the collections straight, and helped with other projects. She is greatly missed. She volunteered about 30 hours a week at the library. Upon her retirement, we looked the current overall programming offered at the library. Over the last few years, we have added programs to build on past successes. Our next step is to incorporate additional programs in an attempt to accommodate all of our patrons. Beginning September 1, 2019, we will be offering Storytime on Friday mornings and continue our monthly Saturday Storytime and Toddler Time programs. We are adding a monthly evening Bedtime Storytime for families who are unable to attend during the day. We will also add “pop-up” programs beginning in late third quarter 2019 for a variety of ages and interests.

You can find our calendar is on our website under Activities.
See you at the library!
