Tatiana Morais concluiu o doutoramento em Direito da Nova School of Law com a tese “Rethinking Dealing with Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in countries of asylum: Intersectional impact of Vulnerability to the State in Greece, Uganda, and Israel from a Matrix of Domination Standpoint", aprovada com distinção e louvor. A Comissão Fulbright felicita-a pelo valioso trabalho e importante marco académico.

Eduardo Campos concluiu o doutoramento em Ciências da Saúde da Universidade do Minho, com a tese "Hippocampal cell cytogenesis in Health and stress-induced Depression: insights from postnatal development to adulthood". A Comissão Fulbright congratula-o por mais esta conquista.

Bruno Guerreiro foi distinguido com o "John K. Critser Award", atribuído pela Society for Cryobiology, pelo melhor trabalho cientifico. Foi premiado ainda com o "Student Travel Award" e foi finalista no prémio "Peter L. Steponkus Crystal Award’. Muitos Parabéns, Bruno, hard work pays off!

Ana Luísa Amaral sadly passed away this Summer. A celebrated Portuguese poet, she was also a retired and dear professor from the University of Porto. As a Fulbrighter, she visited the Department of English of Brown University in the academic year of 1989-1990, where she worked on the 19th century American poet, Emily Dickinson. Ana Luísa’s books are published in several countries, and she was awarded a few distinctions and prizes, among which, just last year, “Prémio Reina Sofia de Poesia Ibero-Americana”. Her poetry is now compiled in “O Olhar Diagonal das Coisas”, published in March. Ana Luísa died at the age of 66.

Luís Lobo-Fernandes e Maria Helena Guimarães estiveram em destaque na Newsletter da "School of Public and International Affairs" da Universidade de Cincinnati, EUA, que fez referência ao seu percurso académico e cívico enquanto Fulbrighters portugueses: «In the summer of 1990 [they] arrived in Cincinnati from Portugal as Fulbright graduate students with their eight-month-old son, Bernardo, in tow. For three years, the couple lived on campus while raising their son and studying simultaneously....». Make sure to read it through!

José Ferreira participou do "Aurelia Gateway Program" em Boston, EUA, e efetuou um voo parabólico em microgravidade: «Irei realizar uma experiência para medir o tempo de reação a estímulos auditivos em microgravidade, e estou a preparar um projeto piloto com o Conservatório Regional de Setúbal para interpretar uma peça durante o voo no meu pequeno teclado, ligando assim a ciência e a arte.». Ainda este verão, o José foi convidado a integrar a edição especial do 167º aniversário do jornal O Setubalense sobre os jovens talentos da região: "O engenheiro aeroespacial que estuda a desintegração dos detritos na atmosfera". Dá gosto ler, parabéns!

Under a Fulbright Grant for Research with the support of FCT, Jessica da Silva has just concluded her project on a "novel therapeutic strategy for treating diabetic foot ulcerations" at the University of California-Davis, CA, EUA: «This has been such an enriching and empowering experience that made me grow both personally and professionally and will definitely leave “SAUDADES”». Under the US Scholar Program – All Disciplines Award, Ricardo Vasconcelos has now concluded his research on "the links between modern and contemporary Portuguese literature and national identity" at the Universidade do Porto: «It was very enriching to meet new authors, artists, scholars, as well as familiarize myself with new presses and publishers, all of whom I expect to continue interacting with in the next years.». «Having spent the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 in New York City, I was able to perceive and immerse myself in the overwhelming sense of appreciation the American people has towards those men and women who were real-life heroes in such tragic events: the first responders. The image features the Memorial Wall, dedicated to the 343 members of the New York City Fire Department who fell on 9/11; and how the firefighters from the firehouse directly across from the World Trade Center still carry on their brave mission.»
